Is this really possible? Could I really look 21 again?
When I think about it, I wouldn't really want to look exactly like I did at 21 again. I couldn't imagine any type of treatment that would do that. At that age I still had some baby fat, roundish face and was a little overweight (20 something lbs). That's something that you can't really get back that really contributes to the obvious appearance of youth. That volume in the face, the volume of fat in the face and cheeks that gives the lack of definition of bone structure.
As I got older my body became naturally thin and my face got a lot more defined looking, my bone structure. I wouldn't mind having some of that back. Improve my skin appearance and smoothness, get rid of smile lines etc. Yet really, besides for my subtle smile folds that are starting to show, I don't have any wrinkles yet. So, no wrinkles yet, and yet I look "my age". I guess. I mean people guess my age give or take pretty much correctly.
So, what I wonder is, if it's not wrinkles that give away my age, compared to when I was in my early twenties, what changes so much besides that? And to use products that could get rid of fine lines or wrinkles, will that really make you look young again without the other missing factors? What, besides for fine lines / wrinkles do you need to change to look younger? |

Hi, BYRG
When I was very young I use to think it was the wrinkles that makes a person look older sure as a person ages they do get more wrinkles but young people also have some wrinkles. What really makes a person look older is loss of elasticity and general sagging of skin. You will not find a young person with these problems. Sad part is that most creams and serums work on wrinkles but not very good on other problems! I am in my 40's and I also do not have very many wrinkles but I am seeing a loss of elasticity and sagging and I would love to find something other than plastic surgery that could fix these issues! |

I do agree with Starlight that a loss of elasticity and sagging contribute to aging. I see many of the older women don't seem to have many wrinkles but they lack this glow or plumpness in their skin. They look shallow and their skin is not firm. Or sometimes they just have a mature look even though they might be just in their early 20's. Also, dark eye circles make a person look old too.
BTW pink_apple, does the collagen + C supplement work for u? What difference do u see in your skin then? Thanks! |

Stardustdy, it's really hard to say. I feel like when I'm very tired after work, my face seems loosing more elasticity and looks very tired. But when I get more rest, my face looks glow, lifted that makes me feel like years younger. I'm not sure if it helps on my recovery rate... Since many skin products out there contain collagen, why don't I give a try on the intake one, right? |

I have found that sometimes it is not the face that gives away a person's age. It is the whole package - what we wear and how we carry ourselves have a significant part to play. Certain colours or items of clothing, for example, can make us look older or younger, as can our posture, hairstyle and tone of voice. Also, energetic, lively happy people tend to always look young - or at least younger than their age.
That said being told that you look 31 isn't necessarily a bad thing either, because that is an age when most people are financially better off, are stable and focused, and have aquired good taste about many things in life. Looking young therefore isn't always a good thing - many people associate looking young with looking stupid (as in immature) and lacking money! |

Hello - it might also be a factor of, along with lines or wrinkles, a 'glow and radiance'. I started taking extra fish omega oil (both omega 3 and 6) for heart health and noticed a side effect was nicer, glowy and smoother skin with shiny hair and stronger nails about a month after I began taking it. That was a few years ago, and I have kept it up!
In terms of firmness, while I am not at the stage to be concerned with that yet, I also started taking a suppliment called Bio-Sil for my gums. Its meant (scientific studies back it up) for bone health strength and density but healthier gums were noted by a few dentists so I started with that and am very happy with the results on my gums....anyway, during the bone studies (average age of participant was 61 I believe) the participants noted a decrease in wrinkle depth and increase in skin firmness as a positive side effect. Not surprising as the suppliment helps the body with collagen production which is fundamental with bones, skin, gums etc. |

Hi myamax,
I agree with you. Health is very important.
When one is healthy, one will look younger.
So I take shark oil everyday to keep myself healthy. It is said that shark is good for skin health too. |

A good diet, regular excercise, drinking plenty of water, sleeping at least 8 hours a day and a simple skin care routine will help to slow the aging process as nothing can stop the aging process, its part of life but if you take care of yourself you will age much slower than someone with poor diet, no excercise, lack of excercise etc. |

IMHO, a big part of the visual difference between a 21yo and a 31yo is the facial expression. There's more knowingness in the eyes at 31 that is rarely there in one's 20s. |

Lasers are supposed to help lessen sagging and bagging around the face and neck.
I am still researching which are most effective.
If anyone has any info on this - please speak up!
