Hi All,
One day or another we have news splashing of fraud sellers on eBay selling fake Mac product or other fake products. Does anybody here have any suggestions how ebay can improve this situation? What steps they should take to spot their fraud buyers to stop selling fake brands?
What is your thought on this?

Well, with ebay I would say only buy from a seller with lots of transactions on the board and a high feedback rating. it is also useful to read the recent feedback comments.
Also before you buy from anyone, online or off, google their name/product to see if anything bad has been posted about them.
Lastly, I think there are some scam alert websites.

While ebay strongly forbids sellers from selling counterfeit goods, I'm not convinced it's all up to them to stop them. With all the auctions going on all over the world, it would be impossible to manage and would probably interfere with the marketplace.

Your best protection from buying counterfeits is to be a very shopper. Before you place a bid, make sure you know what it is you're buying. I've had a lot of great experiences buying from ebay, but the only products I'll bid on are those that I have a distinct familiarity with. If the photos are fuzzy and don't show detail, I don't bid. If the seller originates from Asia, I don't bid. If I don't know the product well enough to detect a fake, I don't bid. I do check feedback before I buy, but ebay feedback isn't always the most reliable indicator. I've seen some ebay sellers with hundreds of positive feedbacks/no negatives who sell fake MAC brushes. The buyers who gave the seller a positive feedback probably didn't know they bought fake.

I wouldn't buy any makeup brushes from ebay at all. There are a lot of very good fake MAC brushes up for sale. If you see an obvious fake, report it to ebay. They will pull it if they get enough reports of fraud.
www.specktra.net is a great resource if you're looking at MAC on ebay; there is one forum dedicated to ebay and counterfeit goods and some of the ladies on that forum are very, very good at spotting fakes that I would otherwise have thought were genuine. But then again, I don't know the brand that well.

Ebay won't do anything. My bf was reporting fake Armani suits he spotted, and that seller is still selling those suits. They have report this item function, but I wasted much time reporting questionable auctions to them, and those auctions remain active.

Most of the fakes I have spotted (and I am a seasoned Ebayer!) do ring a lot of alarm bells.. in general you can get an accurate impression of the legitimacy of the goods from looking at feedback and descriptions.. I only go on ebay to find things that I am after, so I know what to look for.

The other day I spotted some Givenchy Prismissime palettes for only $30, but I'd never seen the collection before and the descriptions were a bit shady, so I sent some messages and never got a reply - that is the #1 clue that sellers are not legit... and always if it's too good to be true then IT IS!

I don't think low value counterfeit goods are a high priority for ebay, otherwise they would automatically scrutinise "characteristic" listings which reek of fakes, I think 90% of fake items (expensive or not) fit into a set of definitions and are very easy to spot.
