I've read a lot of the posts on Obagi. I knew I was going to peel and flake and wrinkle up like a prune but I wasn't prepared for the cracks and then scabs that I have. It is only happening around my eyes but between the peeling around my mouth, my breakouts on my forehead and the scabs around my eyes, I'm not lookin' so good!

Has anyone had this happen to them and does anyone have any suggestions on what to do? I'm going to call my Derm office next week but they are closed for a few days for a conference.

Thanks!! Oh, I'm around day 14 on the system.

divinemind, if you go to Obagi on the EDS storefront, up at the top right there is a link called "Obagi on our Forum" which lists all related Obagi topics. You might be able to find some help there until someone who has experience with Obagi comes along... Hang in there!

I've read just about all the Obagi posts and only one other person mentioned her face cracking Shock and she stopped using the product. I really want to finish the 18 weeks because I know it will be worth it but the cracking is really bothersome!

Hi divinemind. I've been doing Obagi and there were a few times in the early weeks that the skin at the corners of my eyes cracked and scabbed over as well as the corners of my mouth. During these times I would avoid using the products on the irritated areas but would continue using them on the rest of my face. I second the vaseline/aquaphor recommendation for those areas until they have healed up. Even after my areas healed I didn't put much of the Obagi products there just because they were the most prone to get irritated. HTH!

divinemind, I agree with the others. Don't use the products where you are cracking or scabbed. Put Aquaphor on the areas that are cracked/scabbed until healed. Then, start slowly and lightly applying the products to those areas again once all healed. Good luck. Sorry you are having such a rough time. You may think about adding a zinc diaper cream or one of Obagi's products to help when you are all healed and ready to use all over again.

Divinemind........Avene Cicalfate cream was a godsend to me in my Obagi face cracking days. I would lay off the actives and just plaster this all over the sore bits, it's a copper/zinc/sucralfate antibacterial repair cream and i don't think i could have made it through the whole system, without this. Stick with it......it's SO worth it!!!

it seemed that the obagi Action can help to release the reaction.

I used aquafor on the affected areas the past two nights and it seems to be helping significantly. I'll proceed cautiously in those areas from now on. I'm having a lot of peeling around my mouth but no cracking. Should I back off a little there too or do you usually keep putting the product over the peeling areas??

Thanks again for the advice! I'm determined to stick with this!

I had the same problem, but I didn't use the product much around my eyes because my eyes are sensitive and I tend to rub them at night. But my mouth got the cracks and it painful. I think a lot of people have had this reaction, just use the vasaline or Aquafor until it heals. Try not to the products so close to the corners of your mouth or eyes. Obagi Action helps alot with the peeling and redness.

For me it would depend on the degree of peeling. I was always flaking some around the mouth but if it was just the usual light peeling/flaking then I would go ahead and put the products on anyway. However, sometimes I would have a lot of peeling with red, irritated-looking skin showing underneath so when it would get that bad I would back off for a day or two to let that area recover.

If you can get the generic hydracortizone 5% cream it works wonders and don't use the product near those affected areas. Also take a break from those products for a few days. you only use 1/2 gram of product from the end of your pinky to the joint

Maybe you are putting too much? Just a little dab here and there. Obagi Action might do the trick to slow down this problem... Again, don't put too much....

When I am flaking especially around my mouth, I used Obagi Action to calm it down, but when I am really red, I gave my skin a break for a day.
