my lashes are fair and thin, but there is some length. i'm so frustrated because i can not get the dye to take, it does nothing! (1000 hr) i'll leave it on for an hour even, still doesn't take. it's even hard to get it on the lashes in the first place, the lower ones esp, doesn't want to grab on to the hair when applying, grabs on to only part of the uppers. and using a real mascara wand or comb doesn't help. and i don't even use any vaseline there, so thats not getting in the way. what gives here? are they too fine? does this only work for girls with really thick lashes? so, so disappointed! have tried several times, is there a solution? someway to get this to work? i really hope so! someway to effectively prime the fine hair?
(also using something to enhance growth for a month now-not working yet but hopefully!)
it drives me crazy cause everybody loves this dye? hope someone can help.
thanks! |

I'm not sure of the product you're using but I could give you some insight on eyelash tinting, as I do it in my salon. First off, in my professional opinion, I highly recommend getting this done by a licensed professional....it's much safer and the results will be much more effective. Having said that, the results vary from person to person. Women with light, thicker, longer lashes get the "WOW" results. Whereas women with sparse, shorter lashes don't (sorry!). The tint has to be a proper consistency in order for it to spread onto the lashes and stay put (this sounds like the problem you're having). So, if I were you, I'd book an appointment at a reputable salon and then you can speak with the esthetician and figure out if you are a good candidate for this. Simply put, lash tinting will only darken what you have. It's a very natural look. To expect it to take the place of mascara will likely disappoint you. |

I do my own lashes using the same product you're referring to here. I've not had problems but I'm not fair. Other than having a friend try doing it for you you might need to take C's suggestion and find a salon. I find it ridiculously easy to do mine and would never pay the salon fees for this job but you might be the exception. Good luck. |

Hi femchirp,
I'm sorry you're having so much trouble with the lash tint. I use the 1000 hours too and like BluesHeart I find it super easy. One thing that might cause a problem is if the product is old and the peroxide solution has lost its effectiveness. If the peroxide couldn't get the lash hairs to "open up" and take the tint then the color would just wash away. Is your kit fresh? Also, like CMAYC mentioned, are you mixing the color cream and the peroxide enough to get an even consistency? This takes a couple minutes to get it mixed well but is important. |

I haven't dyed my lashes in ages, but I used a European brand that lasted quite long: it was named Refectocil, and had colors like blue-black, that enhanced my blue-green eyes.
It lasted for approximately 2 months... |

thanks everybody for imput!
i did have it done a long time ago at a salon. but it was a waste of $ didn't last long, lashes hardly noticable, did better on my own with the brows.
i am wondering if it is possible that this is old, it's 1000 hr lash kit but i bought it new from chemist direct. is it possible it could get old sitting around in stock? (assuming the little bottles were never opened) so if a peroxide bottle isn't opened can it still get old?
as for consistancy i think it looks good? its well mixed, thickish not runny, try very hard to get proportions right even though the droppers are screwie on both kits! but it takes a bit, doesn't mix well imediately, this is unlike one i used awhile ago from copenhagen which mixed right away. this is why i thought maybe it's kinda old even though it's new? and it won't really ever stick onto the bottom lashes or part of the top lashes on the outside corners or tips?
so did everyone here who had success have thick lashes? it will suck if it only works on gals with great lashes....just not fair they already have great lashes! if the dye is not old(?) would adding more peroxide help or putting peroxide on first, straight, to open the fine hair up more before putting the dye on? or is there something else that would do that? or could be added to the mix to enhance? or something or someway to at least make it stick on to the lashes better in the first place??? seems like there's gotta be something.
thanks gals for all and any help! |

I don't think it's a good eye to put the peroxide straight onto your lashes. Maybe you need to try another brand. My friend uses the Swiss o par I which sounds even easier than the one you have now. I dyed my lashes today and noticed that the texture I work with is almost icing like. |

I wouldn't put peroxide straight on your lashes either. I know it's tempting to try something, anything, to get it to work but I wouldn't get too creative since you're putting this stuff so close to your eyes. I can't imagine why it's not working for you though. My tint is difficult to mix to an even consistency but once it's mixed it stays on my lashes fine and dyes them without problem. My lashes are long thanks to Revitalash but they're not really thick. I'm sorry the 1000 hours didn't work for you. |

Hi Femchirp,
I have the same problem. I have fine lashes also. And ,it just wont stick to my lashes. At the moment having it done at the Salon isnt in the picture.
I have 1000 Hour product also.
I just did mine on Sunday and my fingers tips did turn a nice Blue-Black. |

1000 hour lash tint is the best! If it is not sticking to your lashes, just use a few drops less developer - it will be thicker & still work just as well - that's what I do! |

yeah skin care addict i wish it dyed my lashes like it does my nails! pbsad...i'll try the the thicker route.
curious if that many people had success with the swiss o par? got the impression it was weaker and wouldn't last, esp since no peroxide, but be open to hear from people....?
just don't know if this is a length issue, or fine hair issue, or so so peroxide?
using lumigan now hope that changes the growth part. mamawalnut did you use old revitalash or reformulated, and were they sparse to begin with?
thanks all.... |

I use one of the older formulations but not the original one. I think it has been reformulated twice. My lashes weren't particularly sparse, just nothing to get excited about. The Revitalash made them really long over a period of about 2-3 months. I've been using it about 5 months now and am still on my first tube. I do wish they were a bit thicker but I am really happy with the length. |
