I was wondering if anyone has tried any of the makeup from the E.L.F. brand. I got an email from a friend a year ago and then it resurfaced again this week. They have gotten lots of raves in magazines etc. Basically they have a lot of their products for $1. The price makes me a little nervous since its so cheap, but then again I guess theres no harm in trying them.
So I was wondering if anyone has bought anything from them? If so what products do you like? |

A friend of mine is a make up junkie and she swears by ELF. She likes that she doesn't have to shell out major $$ to get a nice pallet of colors. I personally have never used it but she says that the quality is pretty great for how cheap it is.
On a side note, I have seen this at Big Lots... which could be good or bad.
The colors I have seen are nice and if I hadn't spent so much money on MMU from Meow Cosmetics I would splurge on more. |

I have tried it. It's OK for a buck. I bought a few brushes too for a dollow they are fine but there are better products out there. |

It looks cute. I have received some items from American friends, and they were reasonable, but not that fantastic.
It is available in the UK and Europe now, except that they charge 1.50 pounds ($3) and the shipping is quite steep (6 pounds). That will not be worth it for me. |

I've used lots of their stuff... not always the best dollar I've spent, but certainly not the worst!
The lip glosses are ok, but the texture definitely leaves something to be desired. I've read that they have some pretty decent eye shadows but I haven't tried them yet. |

Have you checked out Mode Cosmetics? Almost all their cosmetics are between $3 and $4.50 with one or two at $5 and $8.

Thanks ladies for all the input. I am going to check out MODE...I love how they are organic and eco-friendly. Makes you feel like you are doing something good for the environment when you buy green products.
havana have you tried the roll on eye shadows or the blush highlighter stick? They seem interesting. |

MODE does look promising... thanks!
Does anyone know if ALL the ingredients are botanicals? It's great that they include organic ingredients, but I didn't see anything that said ALL their ingredients are organic/botanicals, unless I missed it (which is more than possible) |

I just don't see how ELF can sell those products so cheap and still make them ethically and safely. The ingredients, packaging, shipping, production, advertising, and other costs to run business must be at least a dollar a unit, so where is the profit? Corners must be being cut somewhere. Think about it. |

I bought quite a few items a while back and wasn't very impressed with any of them. The quality reflects the very cheap price. |

The only item from ELF that I would actually re-purchase is their Shine Eraser Oil Blotting Sheets. 50 sheets for a buck and they work just as well if not better that the more expensive blotting sheets.
If you are oily this is definately worth checking out. |

I've used a few of their e/s palettes and lip products and was quite impressed with the e/s, as they had great staying power and the lip glosses suited my skintone. I say that I will repurchase some more products from this brand but only when I have any spare cash lying around.
But one thing that I love from ELF is their eyelash curler. For £1.50, its comparable to my Shu! The quality does justify the cheap price cos the metal bit kinda digs into my eyes slightly but it curls most of my lashes (those corner lashes are impossible to curl ) and it holds the curl for a whole day too! |
