Hi ladies,
anyone can recommend a good cleanser for me to use only during those yucky days when i experience a break out days or weeks before my menses is due?
and also, what's the diff b/w Salicyclic acid and Benzoyl Perozide? which is more effective in clearing blemishes?
Luv,
Jacko |

I personally find Benzoyl Peroxide better at drying up zits...but it can bleach fabrics (use WHITE sheets!!!!)
Salicylic acid is an exfoliator that is a better preventative compared to the benzoyl.
Both products will cause sensitivity to the sun so be sure to wear sunscreen!!
Dermalogica clearing specialist is a good product with benzoyl peroxide. Salicylic acids are found in a lot of products but can't recommend one because I'm super sensitive to the product (I'm a freak, a lot of people are the other way around). |

I am allergic to Benzoyl Peroxide, so I can't use anything with it. But Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy that is great for clearing zits. In fact I recommend Dermalogica medicated clearing gel. |

i suggest taking vitamin E orally.
i use kiss my face olive oil bar soap. is all natural. and makes my skin super soft.
Salicylic acid- white crystalline acid, best used for eczema.
Benzoyl peroxide- form of bleach, best used for acne. |

Ahem, just went through this. What really helped me was Decleor Ylang Ylang balm and Yonka Juvenil. I didn't use them together. One night the balm, next night the Juvenil mixed with Yonka Creme 15. I also used the Juvenil during the day just on my chin after my Ylang Ylang oil. Really helped clear those puppies up and now all gone. hth |

Hi there,
i've tried using Proactiv system before and i developed contact dermatitis. does that mean i'm allegic to benzoyl peroxide? i intend to try Peter Thomas Roth's acne pdts but again there are 2 ranges - the BPO range and the the BHA range (using glycolic and salicyclic acid instead) and i don't know which to choose.
between PTR and Murad, which would you choose to help mild acne? |

Jacko_wacko,
My brother is having great results with Proactiv, I'm sorry to hear it didn't work so well for you.
I'd give the Murad or PTR BHA line a shot. It's very possible that the benzoyl peroxide was too strong for your skin. The only way to be sure is to try another product containing benzoyl peroxide and see if you get the same result..in which I'd try a cheaper drug store brand, just in case.
I have read good things about murad...haven't heard much about PTR yet. |
