I have both the Baby Q and the AALS. I prefer the AALS because the head is larger and it also has the addition of the amber wavelength. However, I am now using the DPL which is a panel version - it does the entire face in 17 minutes.

Basically, it's just personal preference - there doesn't seem to be any general consensus on which device delivers the best results.

Nanci from NCNskincare sells it, as do a number of other websites, such as:
http://www.light4beauty.com/ just Google for the cheapest price. I'm sorry, I forget where I purchased mine from.

Just something to think about Jade. I had both the DPL and the AALS. I ended up returning the DPL panel because although it is quicker you can't do anything else like watch TV because you have your whole face in the panel with your eyes closed. Also leaning over at the table to get my face close enough to the panel hurt my back. I tried to lay down and put the panels on my face but that didn't work out to well for me.

I had the very same experience Cookie! Wink

That's why I think it all comes down to personal preference. For me, I enjoy the 17 minutes complete "zone-out" - I leave the panels on the stand and sort of rest it on my stomach and lean back, I find it quite comfortable to do it that way. I found the AALS too time consuming. But each to their own.

I've just had a reply to say there are 200 of 633nm and 200 of 830nm. No mention of joules, just referred me back to their site.
Keliu, where did you hear there are 850 leds?
And thank you for suggesting contacting Marcia36. Her reply was encouraging (don't know if I'm allowed to say anything here that was in a pm).

I found a website which gave the number of Red and Infrared LEDs but it definitely wasn't 200 and 200. The amounts weren't equal but added up to 850. I'll see if I can find it again. BTW, I think joules are the same as watts (I think!)

1 Watt = 1 Joule per second (also abbreviated as J/s)

After many months of research and indecision Rolling Eyes , I've pretty much decided that I want the Quasar Blue Pro. I just am not sure where I'm going to get it from. Most sites that offer it are sold out. Others require a prescription or license: "NOTE: Due to the FDA Clearance on the Quasar Pro Series, we can only sell this device to customers who present us with a professional license or prescription from their Doctor. " I have had the Baby Quasar Red for about 2 years, and I love it. I want the blue light for my occasional cystic acne. Especially now, since about 11 months ago I stopped taking my oral acne drugs (aldactone, antibiotics). Trying to go the natural route, but it's a rough road getting there. Any thoughts on the site quantum-healing-lasers?? I'd rather buy this device from makemeheal, but they are only carrying the baby. Sad

Not sure if you've already purchased a device but Dr Baumann wrote this about the blue light Tria Skin Clarifying System:

Quote:
Tria Skin Clarifying System: As far as at-home light-based treatments go, this is my favorite right now. You use it twice a day for three minutes, and I’ve seen good results on my patients so far. When compared to eight bi-weekly treatments with ClearLight, the Tria delivers at least the same amount of energy. The one drawback I’ve seen is that the treatment cartridge needs to be replaced after a few months (depending on how often you use it), so keep this in mind. But in terms of efficacy, I feel this is the strongest at-home light available, since it delivers 400mw/cm2 (this is about 10 times more power of other at-home LED acne devices)). Clinical results show a 70% reduction in lesions after two to four weeks when used in conjunction with topical treatments, and a 70% reduction after eight weeks when used on its own.

http://health.yahoo.net/experts/skintype/do-home-anti-acne-devices-really-work

According to Tria, it has "more than 8 times the bacteria-destroying light energy than other devices", "is substantially the same as professional blue light devices" and "is as effective as professional and prescription treatments yet gentle enough to use daily without irritation, dryness or redness often caused by other acne treatments". It seems to have a lot of positive reviews also...

Might be another option to add into the mix. Smile

I have researched as much as possible trying to get scientific specs and parameters of devices on the market.

I found a blog called ageless-beauty at blogspot that really broke down output specifications and clinical data from NASA on LED and infra red devices.
This week I ordered 2 devices myself.

One is the unit by TIA called the renew ultrasonic and I went ahead and called Quasar and then ordered a Baby Quasar MD plus , the motherload at $799.. However the skinstore has a special site wide which made is less painful.

My reasoning for the Quasar is the science is good. All levels are at therapeutic standards and its a Class 2 medical device. I'll be needing the infra red capacity for my joints due to auto-immune illness I suffer from..Kind of 2 birds with one stone. Better face, less joint pain.

I'm thinking the TIA Renew Ultrasonic will go to my 16 year old son to use the blue light in order to keep his skin clear. Will post my thoughts after receiving them both next week!

Not sure about the Ultrasonic device for acne. Ultrasonic is mainly used for the pennetration of topicals. I doubt that the few blue lights surrounding the head will do much - a better choice would have been an LED device with blue lights. I would also recommend looking at a High Frequency device for treating acne - it kills bacteria effectively.

I understand.. I just didnt know what to do with it since I bought it prior to the Quasar and its just now shipping. Perhaps they will let me send it back for a refund. Smile I was doubting the Renew was strong enough to do much in the way of the LED, which is why I bought it, not for the ultrsonic aspect.

Keep it and use it yourself - there's good research on the benefits of ultrasound.

Bump! and I ended up buying the Quasar Blue Pro if anyone has questions, I'm happy to answer. I did A LOT of research. I'm a believer in LED therapy.
