Taking family vacation in June (DH, 14 y-o DS, and I) and we will have some free time in Vancouver, Jasper and Banff. We will have a free day in Banff, a partial day in Jasper, and about a day and half in Vancouver. I appreciate any and all recommendations! Thanks.

i don't know about jasper and banff, but in vancouver there's lots, but it depends on what you like.

if you like outdoorsy, nature stuff, the capilano suspension bridge http://www.capbridge.com/ is cool. the lynn valley suspension bridge is free, but it doesn't have the treetop adventure or other "site" type things. that's in north vancouver
or there stanley park, and the seawall, a walk/bike-way that runs all the way around the park along the waterfront.

there's the aquarium and science world. but those kinds of things are everywhere.

if you like history...
gastwon is cool and a historic area, lots of touristy shops though. howver the steam clock and the statue of Gassy Jack are kinda neat.
china town is super cool.

i highly reccomend la casa gelato. it's a gelato place, just outside of downtown, they have 218 flavours available everyday, though they actually have recipes for more than that--some flavours rotate seasonally.

check out graville island, it's not really an island--just almost. lots of cool stuff and an entire market devoted to kid's stuff.

if you want tips on places to eat, lemmee know Smile

Thanks, these are really helpful suggestions! Making note of them. Anything that I need to worry about buying tickets in advance for?

Hoping to still get some ideas for Banff and Jasper. So far in Banff I've read about a gondola ride, boat trip and ghost town.

I think that Banff should also have some goo mountain biking or horseback riding opportunities.

If you are into spas, go to the Fairmont Hotel @Banff - lovely views from the sundeck and the mineral water pool is heaven. They use Kerstin Florian products and Jane Iredale. Oh, and bring lots of $$$.
The resort has a great German restaurant in the woods, only a short walk from the main lodge. Lots of hiking trails around the resort too.
While you're at the spa, send the guys off to the Glacial Icefields north of Banff past Lake Louise. It's about an hour trip each way, so plenty of time for a nice massage and facial and soak.

Once took a raft trip down the Bow River in Banff. It was wonderful. Don't know if that is same as the boat trip. There are some really pretty lakes around that area, including one that is exceptionally blue (natural).

Are you going to the Columbian ice fields ?
