OK, it got here today. It took exactly 1 week, and the best thing is NO TAX. I don't know whether the customs guys were too slack to check the price or what, but I'm so pleased. It came just as I was going to work today and I've just got home so haven't had a chance to try it. It has an Australian adapter. It is very light (pardon the pun!)
I might read through the thread again to check what has worked best for people. I know most forum members used it on a clean skin at first but then others suggested using HA about half an hour before or a lightening product. Just want to check which products were used before and after.
So exciting!!! |

Mint! A week's excellent.
Did you ask for an Australian adapter or did they just know you're in Aus and send one?
Good luck miss anna, I'm sure your skin'll be looking awesome in no time. |

I did ask for the adapter but Steve said they send them anyway. It's one of those click in adapters like when you buy gadgets for international use. |

Time to update my progress as tomorrow will be one month of using my AALS. I have used it every single day for 3 mins per area, except for the last two days, when I took a break. My skin was screaming for it. How can I put this...ummm, well, let me put it lightly.... my skin is fried I have never NOT been able to recover from dry, scaly, crepey skin, but the last month has culminated in my skin being as parched as the dessert. I did quit using my Tazorac and C serum about 2 wks ago, to see if that would reduce the dryness, but no change. So I slather oils on daily and still my skin in scaly. I don't know if its the dryness of winter that has made my skin so irritated in conjunction with the AALS--or what...but I'm wondering if my skin will ever be "normal" again. I have never looked worse in my life. Too much AALS, and facial exercises? I don't know....I just don't know! I'm not giving up on the AALS but my understanding is that to get the full benefits, you have to use it daily in the beginning. HEEEEEEEELLP! PS...no Kassy, I haven't been drinking water before and after. |

You have answered your own question, with the last sentence you wrote. I keep telling you guys the drinking water before and after is most important! The AALS is a powerful device!
You have dehydrated your skin in and out.
Now you must get serious about exfoliating off the dead layer of skin cells, and work on repairing the skin barrier. I can't think off hand what topicals you might be using, but you now need to incorporate a rich, moisturizing antioxidant serum or cream.. (I've recommended a few serums a page or so back, and also in the "What to use with the LightStim" thread.)
My advise is to give your skin a break from the LED till Monday, moisturize your skin like hell to replenish the lost moisture, and then use the LED every other day and see where you are at that point..
And for goodness sake, make friends with plenty of water in and out! (That goes for all of you guys!)
I want you all to think about this for a minute. Picture a nice piece of fresh bread that is moist and soft.. Now put that bread in the toaster. What will be the result? The bread comes out dry and crispy correct? Well it got that way, because all the moisture was removed from the bread with the heating/toasting process..
Continually using "any" LED frequently, without giving your skin the moisture/water it needs, will result in a dried out skin... It really is as simple as that!
When you have an hour to spare while you are relaxing, apply a nice layer of Vaseline on your clean skin... After about a 1/2 an hour take a hot, moist, wrung out face cloth, and just apply to your face/neck till it cools off.. (I know lots of you are shaking your heads reading this, but please trust me, Vaseline can correct a multitude of skin dilemma's, with dry, parched, dehydrated skin, at the top of the list.. ) |

mountaingirl Kassy drilled the water thing into my head so I try to drink a liter of water before and after using my AALS.
Right now you need to drink as much water as you can stand and until your urine is clear you are not hydrated.
The vaseline thing sounds kinda nice.... |

Ok...I hear ya loud and clear Kassy and Alley. More water! Sheesh, I used to have vaseline in every medicine cabinet, but I tossed it once I got on this forum. So I've been using oils, rose hip, avocado, hemp, sesame. But no banana! My skin feels like fine sand paper. I just dug around in my frig and found a base cream, mixed it with a sample of lipids I had, and slathered on. Gonna get some vaseline tomorrow. Interesting that my urine was very oddly dark early this week, and I am sick now and pushing fluids like you wouldn't believe. Live and learn! |

Argh! I could give you a good shake.. .. The dark urine is a big red flag for dehydration.. (concentrated urine ='s not enough fluid.)
I also wanted to say that I firmly believe using the LightStim devices daily is too much.. Personally, 4 or 5 times per week for the first month or so was my max.
We all have to take all these directions with a grain of salt, and then listen to what our skin is telling us.. Some may need more treatments, and other's may do best with less..
For now just use the avocado oil.. That will help tremendously.. I believe rose hip oil is drying, so I would avoid that one for now..
You can do the 'hot cloth' tip I mentioned above with the avocado oil.. Be generous with your application, and apply it twice a day.
You poor baby... Don't worry, we'll get you sorted out.. |

So I had a sample of Dianne Yvonnes Essential Lipids. Feels good on...mixed it with GoW base cream. Wondering if this would be a good serum (alone) to use with the AALS once I start back??
Ingredients: Cyclomethicone, Octyl Cocoate, Dimethicone, Glycoceramides, Ceramides, Cholesterol. |

I love the actives, but not sure about the silicone's..
I'm really on the fence about what to use in conjunction with an LED treatment, and personally will only use a homemade serum (posted in a couple of threads already.)
I'm not a fan of silicones and lots of preservatives etc.., which is the reason I got into DIY in the first place..
Personally I keep things simple with a couple of antioxidant serums.. The constants for me are nourishing oils, and vitamins A,B,C,E + Ferulic Acid. |

Hi Kassy, I know this is the AALS thread, but just a couple of quick questions about the original. I was going to PM you but thought others might be interested in your answer.
I want to use the original on some aches and pains due to inflammation for myself and my daughter. I assume you can't use it through clothing seeing you have mentioned occlusive products many times. My daughter has a problem with her hip so she might feel a bit embarrassed doing the treatments in the living room.
And second, how long would you suggest leaving the original on the area of pain? I am thinking of using it for 3 minutes and moving it around the site of pain, maybe 3 or 4 spots. How have you used it? TIA.
BTW Is anyone else having trouble with the EDS website? I have been trying to post this message for 2 days and haven't been able to because it timed out. |

The AALS and the AcneLS arrived this morning. My Hubby answered the door and opened the box before I was able to get to it. He come into the room and goes "Your $600 face zapper is here." He didn't know I ordered it so I am sure he was surprised! I told him it was TWO face zappers and one was for our son with the bad acne and eczema. He didn't seem to mind at all he was only miffed because he thought the box contained the camera he sent to be repaired.
Now that they are here what do I do with them? I am too intimidated to even take them out of the box. |

Is there a thread addressing the difference of the original lightstem and the anti-aging lightstem? I have the original and need to know if I should purchase the anti-aging one. |

Wash your face really well tonight, pat it dry, don't put anything on it unless it's one of Kassy's DIY serums, then map out an area on your face that covers every inch that you can.
I do three on each cheek, three on the forehead, the chin and sometimes the nose.
I also do chest, hands and part of my back...
I am experiencing some dryness as well. I drink lots of water throughout the day but not right before and after using AALS--I'll start doing that.
I've only been doing mine for a week. |

miss anna, it should definitely be used on bare skin.. DD could put on nice loose jammie bottoms, and just slide it in to rest on the hip, moving it a little every 3 to 5 minutes.. I use it on my miserable knee, and also for arthritis in my cervical spine and elsewhere..
A good rule of thumb in my opinion for treating pain, is to do the entire area that's affected for 15 or 20 minutes, moving it every 3 to 5 minutes.
milbader, whip those babies out and have at it.. And don't forget to drink water before and after.. Especially important for sonny boy, because the acne light runs the hottest.. (He must keep it on each spot with an active outbreak for 5 minutes to kill the bacteria, but 3 minutes is sufficient elsewhere.
Frodo, what concerns specifically are you looking to address that the original is falling short on? (I have and use both, so I'm happy to answer your questions.)
Everybody, feel free to talk about any of the LightStim products in this thread. |

Argh! Join the club.. That bloody thing set me back a year plus..
I'm just going to use the LED 3 times per week, (4 if I can manage it), and hopefully things will firm back up in a few months.
Just use the original a little more aggressively than you have used it, and see how it goes in the next couple of months.. I'll keep you posted on what's going on with me and the AALS.
I might just switch back and forth between both devices, in the hope it might shake things up a bit.. We'll see. |

Thanks Kassy. I have osteoarthritis in my lower back (and elsewhere) but was a bit worried about using it on the spine - don't really know why.
Problem is, it's going to take me half a day to do the AALS for the face and neck and the original for all the aches and pains!! |

Naaaa, just do both at once!
I usually allow myself an hour, and have at it while I'm watching TV... The time just fly's that way for me...(And the cable box clock is a great way to keep track of those pesky minutes.. ) |

After reading all the helpful advice, I have now made a decision between AALS and Prolights. AALS will be arriving on my doorstep soon, so when it does I will let you know what my progress is.
I will take Kassy's advice with drinking plenty of water before and after - thanks Kassy. |

Hi,
I got my AALS 2 weeks ago. My husband noticed that there are at least 9 bulbs that are not lighting up. Is this normal? Did I get a defective item? I emailed Steve but haven't heard from him yet.
TIA! |

pinay7 Yes that is normal - I believe the ones "do not light up" are infrared red and on but not visible to the human eye. |
