What is your favorite brand of self tanning product?
What kind of sponge or other application device do you use to make sure the color is spread evenly? (or do you just use your hands?)
Thanks! BF |

I would highly recommend GlowFusion AirGlow Airbrush Gun System with Tinted Micro-Nutrient Protein Tan Mist.
A friend recommended about a year ago and ive used it evr since. It goes on smooth and evenly and gives a beautiful golden tan, not that horrible satsuma look.
FYI, This is actually one of EDS's bestsellers. A bit pricey but worth it.
For something a bit cheaper i would suggest St Tropez spray, this gives a nice even tan but personnally i prefer a more professional finish or maybe i just like spoiling myself.
Forgot to mentaion, best to exfoliate prior to using any self tanner to get rid of dead skin cells and for an even application. Also i apply moisturiser on drier area such as elbows and knees prior to tanning . Works wonderfully. |

My personal favorite is Jergen's Natural Glow & Jergen's Natural Glow for faces. I am very fair and this self tanner looks very natural, is almost mistake proof and never looks orange or streaky - which is a big problem for me with most of the other self tanning lotions.
My second favorite would be Neutrogena's Gradual Sunless Tanning - Also very natural looking for those who are fair. |

Hi Fairlady:
I was wondering how the Jergens Natural Glow smells these days? I used it 2 summers ago, and it gave off a terrible scent. Have they changed the formula since? Thanks! |

St. Tropez Mousse - it has a color guide in it
I use a puff like used on top of some powders (not fluffy but flat) to apply. You could also use a washcloth that you relegate for this use (as it will stay stained). |

Tantowels are the only self tanner I can use on my face without monster breakouts, and they are convenient and never streaky. They also don't smell bad in my opinion. I repurchase them by the boxload. |

I use Solerra Sunless Silk. www.solerra.com
I can't rave enough about this product. I hated sunless tanners before - I tried so many and for one reason or another, I disliked them all. The dreaded smell being the #1 reason and either the lack of color or too orange/fake looking. I actually get people asking me where I've been or if I tan in booths, it looks so natural. It actually looks better than my real tans tend to look, because it's more even.
I use the Velvotan applicator mitt to apply and it delivers flawless application every time. Then I just throw it in the wash.

I also HIGHLY recommend visiting this site before you apply your sunless tanner. www.sunless.com
This site has amazing tips that will help you along the way. Oh, I also agree about the importance of exfoliation and moisturizing dry areas first.
Good luck!! |

I use L'Oreal Sublime Bronze. It's the only one I've tried that doesn't have that stinky self-tanner smell, and it gives a good color. I am very fair naturally. I haven't tried most of the more expensive brands, though.
Lately I've been mixing gradual self-tanning moisturizer with the Sublime Bronze. That seems to give a very even application. |

I use St. Tropez's moisturizer with self-tanner in it. This is SOO easy to use. I take a shower. (Don't even exfolate! ) And then rub it on when I get out. A couple hours later, a nice subtle tan that is just enough to cut out the paleness. And you can build upon it too and get a pretty deep tan if you want. I find that I get these deep sunless tans and then it fades and I'm back to white. Too extreme and obvious. This is good for those in between stages where you don't have time/or want to go through the hassel of applying more tanner but don't want to go back to zero.
If you are looking for a deep tan, I recommend the St. Tropez mousse. Easy to apply b/c you are smearing a foam and there's a color guide. The color is very realistic. It is smelly though. |

im using self-tanners in the face only...
with the clarins "eau lactee" i look terrible the following two days, as it settles into pores and emphazises blackheads...
i recently bought the sisley for face (in a tube) #2. it does a much better job, but still my pores/blackheads look worse the following day. but it lasts quite well, and gives a nice light tan - not orange, but yellowish...
all i apply just with the hands..
next i would like to try the fake bake for the face, as it seems to have (at least some) similar ingredients as the sisley one, also some silicones... |

Hi CYAC
I was just considering starting a thread to query y'all whether there are any self tanners that don't have that dreaded smell when I came upon this thread and your post.
Can you tell us whether you use the Solerra lotion or the spray tan? It looks like there's a June special on the website that includes a mitt, although I'm interested in trying the Velvotan one ... I have very little experience with self tanners because of not being able to get past the smell, so I'm looking forward to trying this one!
Thanks

Amen to St. Tropez products. I've been using their self-tanning lotion for the last few years and I'm always getting compliments on my color. I started using it only on my face, neck and chest but when I realized how long a bottle lasts I now use it on my legs and arms too. I just LOVE the stuff! |
