I hate my ears, they are not super large or anything they just stick out more then I would like and don't seem to be very proportioned for my small face and small features.

I have my ears pierced but I haven't worn earings in over 10 years probably. I don't know if I still can and am afraid of putting earings in and getting an infection because of all the scar tissue etc. Is it safe?

Anyways, my question is do you think that earrings would help detract from large ears that stick out too much? And what type of earings - large hoops or long dangly earings or small earings etc.

I know it's a weird question, but I have to ask. Also if there are any other tips for concealing this, great. I really don't want to get surgery, it's not that bad, I just don't like them and want to take focus off of them. Thanks.

Maybe large hoops would help balance things out for you. I bet your ears look fine Smile

Hello.
I would think it's safe to use earrings again as long as your ear-laps and earrings are perfectly cleansed before you put in the earrings.

If you want to detract attention from your ears, I would suggest small earrings as they are more discrete.

(Just don't follow both these advices. One large hoop in one ear an a little stud in the other will certainly attract attention to the ears).

I am sure people around you don't take notice of your ears. We are all very critical to our own looks. Smile

Mmm... I don't know. I think earrings might do the opposite and bring attention to the size of your ears. But try on some different kinds of earrings and ask some friends what they think.

Have you asked your hair stylist for any tips re: hairstyles, etc.?

I found this page with some tips:
http://www.ehow.com/how_2273777_hide-large-ears.html

And, I agree that you probably notice the size of your ears much more than others! Wink

Great tips on hiding the ears. I have really small ears, but my hair hides them anyway. We are fortunate enough as women to use our hair to hide them. I agree with the article on layers that sort of hang to cover up your ears. I think earrings, large or small will draw attention to your ears because we are always looking at earrings.
One suggestion that was not mentioned in the article (but my friend told me her hairdresser recommended because she has big ears)..where your hair a little higher on the top. Whether you poof your bangs, or add a little height to the top of your head, this makes your ears not overwhelm your face.
Although, I agree that we are too critical of ourselves and I am sure your ears look fine!! Very Happy

Hi Byrg,
My bet is no one else notices your ears. I read somewhere that Cindy Crawford hates her ears. She thinks they're too big. I certainly have never noticed. My point being, we all see flaws no one else notices.
