I know sea kelp bioferment is supposed to be extremely good for the skin because it's rich in minerals and nutrients. It's been suggested it is good for acne. I think it is also rich in iodine which causes acne in some people. Is it possible sea kelp bioferment can cause acne in some people who are sensitive to iodine but might help others acne if they're not sensitive to iodine? |

I doubt it... My hunch is that iodine is not great for skin internally, but topically it's not going to do much. |

I think any product can cause acne in some, and not in others. Iodine and seaweed/algae are usually listed as ingredients to avoid if you are acne prone, but it's possible that the bioferment could be beneficial in some cases. I think a good rule for any product is "your mileage may vary". I have successfully used a seaweed bioferment on my very acne prone skin so I know it can be done. But there are people that it probably doesn't work for, and iodine sensitivity or seafood allergy could play a part. |

I agree with that. Skin care is not one size fits all! That would be waaay too easy.

some algae extracts can be extremely comedogenic, i think alginate is for example (dont quote me on that one). some are irritating.
there are many many types of seaweeds...
some good ones for skin are
Fucus vesiculosus
Laminaria japonica
Undaria pinnatifida |
