Another question about sunscreen, which is always confusing me. How to reapply sunscreen? I mean, a lot of us wear make-up every day. Even not, we must have something (oil, for example) on our face by the time we need to reapply sunscreen. What are you doing? We can't just cleanse the face and reapply everything all over again, right?

EDS sells Colourscience. This is a powder sunscreen containing stable ingredients titanium dioxide and zinc oxide.

There is also a few Mineral makeup companies that sell this type of product loose in a jar. I have one from MAD minerals.

This is the one I have. It looks white but does blend in.

If you are a DIY you can also buy the ingredients from places like Garden of Wisdom or TKB and maybe add a tint (iron oxides or if you have a bronzer, etc.)

The powder works well especially if you are oily.

What's the difference between all the different "clears" on the colorscience?

Oh and thanks for the mad mineral link! I think I'll get something from them, I've been on the look out for a sunscreen powder recently.

I think there are some sunscreen mist products there. I guess these products are for this reapply purpose.

I don't reapply, it would mess up my make up not to mention my skin. You can not apply on top of makeup, that would cause an unbelievable amount of pimples/clogged pores I would like. I use a sunscreen in my moisturizer and then my mineral makeup has it as well. I don't spend a lot of time in the sun, but even if I hang out by the pool for a couple hours it is fine coverage for me. I can not risk anymore issues with my skin than I already have.

Just use an spf 15 foundation. I don't think the spf powders would do that much.

I don't reapply because I just don't know how...

And for the sunscreen powder, what's the difference between that and mineral foundation? I have mineral foundation from Laura Mecier, and it has a spf 15. But is it enough for protection from the sun?

MMU usually contains around SPF 15 but those sunscreen powder is usually higher around SPF 30. I heard that sunscreen powder is not really effective in sun protection as you have to apply a lot to achieve that effect...

I start the day with a moisturizer with SPF 30, a primer with SPF 15, and a powder MMU with SPF 18. At lunch, I touch up SPF with the powder MMU. Using a powder MMU SPF does not disturb my other makeup. With regard to the comments about powder SPF not being enough: I would not touch up SPF if it meant having to redo my makeup, so it's a case of a little something being better than nothing.

Just curious, Susie -- why do you think that? I personally am not a foundation wearer, so I would never want to apply an MMU purely for sunscreen reasons when I don't need or want the coverage. But I've been using Peter Thomas Roth's mineral powder sunscreen for a couple years now, and I love it! It seems to provide excellent protection, but without the coverage of MMU. I'm just curious as to why you think the mineral powder SS would be less effective -- is it because it's more transparent?

I reapply sunblock before I leave my work and usually I don't wear any foundation. I had to reapply a few times sunblock over foundation when I was on vacation. I have a very fair skin and it was sunny so I didn't have choice.

Just want to add my "thank you" for MAD Minerals, great prices and the overseas shipping seems reasonable too. Very Happy

I'm going to try the mineral foundation, it says it incorporates sunscreen too, but doesn't say which SPF?

The microfibre cloth special is a steal, too. I really needed one!

About the mad minerals, I recently ordered their sunscreen powder and also their mineral sampler for warm toned sampler for light to medium skin. I got their second lightest option for warm toned skin, I hope it's ok. It includes 2 foundations, one lighter and one darker, 2 finishers, and a bronzer. What did you get?
