I'm not in to cleansers and was wondering if anyone has found a really good facial soap that cleans without stripping? |

This one from Dermalogica is supposed to be good. I haven't used it myself, but I like many of Dermalogica's products, and love their cream cleanser.

Dermalogica has a facial soap bar and so does 302. I haven't tried either, but they're both supposed to be good. If I was interested in a soap bar, I would get the 302 one. |

302's Face and Body Bar is quite good. I also have a bamboo charcoal bar that is great but I can't think of the name right now. |

The Cetaphil cleansing bar is excellent - Cetaphil products are always a standard recommendation by dermatologists and they're available from pharmacies at a good price. |

Just my opinion, I have tried to use some very expensive bar soaps: Arcona (sp) and it was horrible. I have tried cheap bar soaps: Cetaphil and it was horrible. I have been told by two different derms, that any bar soaps are not good for your skin, because the products that are used to "hold" the soap in the form of a bar, can be very very irritating. Arcona stripped my skin and Cetaphil made my skin breakout in hundreds of clogged pores.! Bad news for me |

I have sensitive, easily congested skin and I love Cetaphil. Never tried the bar, I use the gentle skin cleanser (non-foaming). |

I use Cetaphil. It works just fine for me in general, but sometimes it feels not deep cleansing enough. |

I agree with bergquis and have heard the same about bar soaps being bad for skin. Plus, liquid soap seems more hygienic; bar soaps are messy and are directly handled more.

I have been using Rhassoul Facial Cleansing Bar for close to one month. I am thrilled with how well it cleans yet non-stripping. After cleansing my face feels very soft (not tight). The soap is hard and I expect it to last a long time. I will reorder this soap. |

My husband commented on 302 soap yesterday. He asked me to reorder this soap for him, he has sensitive skin, and needs to keep mild form of psoriasis at a bay, he was not sure if it was a coincidence, but his skin feels better after he started using 302 soap. |

I was using Pomega5 bar soap for a month or two and having good results -- though my face did feel "squeaky" clean with it. Happened to find Jurlique's foaming cleanser (for oily skin) at my TJMaxx and so have been using that for about a week now. I can really tell the difference from the bar soap -- my face isn't too squeaky or tight afterwards, but it's definitely clean. And it foams so well that I just need a tiny amount, so I think the bottle should last me a good while. |

The 302 Face and Body bar is, by far, the best bar cleanser I have ever used. I've used it since January 2005. It never strips, leaves the skin feeling soft and silky. Everybody can use it, including kids with acne problems. It's very low foaming, no fragrance. Lasts months. |

Burts Bees does a soap for babies which is completely natural and very gentle, even suitable for newborns. |

I found the Clinique facial bar, for delicate skin, pretty good and the Carrot face soap from Burt's Bees to be gentle as well, but pretty much any cleanser on the market has questionable pH or ingredients that coat the skin and thus can clog pores, so I've found them to be no good - they all strip/clog to some extent by the chemical composition.
Toners like ACV or oils won't strip, but they cleanse quite differently. If you absolutely HAVE to have a bar or an actual cleanser I'd go with Burts Bees, myself, but I have found my texture and tone to be much more even with a non-alkaline cleansing method (hence my OCM push ).
Good luck finding something that works for you! |

i really like Erno Lazlo's whole Active pHELITYL Oil and bar soap cleaning method. (I'm sure there are threads on this.)
it's probably the best clean feeling i've experienced.
But MAN, what an involved process! |

I use Pears soap which you can get for around $1 a bar. I have slightly oily skin and this cleans without stripping. I simply use sorbolene to remove my eye makeup and Pear soap for everything else. It removes zinc oxide based sunblock and light makeup very easily if you use a face cloth. Over the years I have tried dozens of other products from basic and inexpensive (Dove bar and Cetaphil liquid) through to expensive brands such as Clinique and Estee Lauder, along with various organic brands. I figured as I got older I should change my routine, but I keep coming back to Pears because it keeps my skin clear of blackheads and pimples and does a good safe job. Minimal ingredients and also lathers well in hard water (I go camping regularly). I have also used it to wash my hair in a pinch.
Soap gets a bad rap, but many soaps these days are ph neutral. Look for something like Pears or any soap made from superfatted oils like coconut or oil, or soaps made from goat or cows milk. |
