Grumpy, I am a longtime Viviscal user in the US.
In case you can't find any place good in Canada, the cheapest place I have found to order is iherb.com (they do ship to canada). They offer a VIP discount based on your total order: VIP Discount: 6% 0+, 12% $120+, 13% $240+, 14% $480+, 16% $960+
So if you order 6 boxes at $49 = $294 - 13% = $255.78 (or $42 a box)
Just an FYI...they recently changed all their formulas, which is a bit disconcerting.  |

| Bethany, please tell me your thoughts on Viviscal. Since you are a long time user you must be seeing benefits. I was looking into this years ago but I had become allergic to shrimp and was told I should not use it. I asked my doctor what he thought about it and had nothing positive to say about hair supplements. Needless to say he wasn't the best doctor. Since I no longer have an allergy to any seafood, maybe I should give it a try for my fine, thin hair. |

I have used it since about 1998 or 99, due to losing 50% of my hair (caused by stress). Honestly, it is the one thing I will probably NEVER stop taking....it also has skin benefits.
My doctor at the time was blown away by my results, and started taking it himself.
It does take some time to work, so I would plan on giving it at least 3 months if you want to try it.

| Thanks Bethany. I heard it can cause increased break outs. Have you had that problem or are you not acne prone? I imagine it's the iodine in the marine complex that would cause this as iodine can be a trigger for acne prones. Do you take the 18% regular strength? Lastly, do the tablets have any taste? I notice that it contains orange extract, do the tablets taste like orange? |

I am acne prone, and when I first started taking it I broke out in several zits (so did a couple of my friends). Once they went away, I didn't have any other significant breakouts.
You swallow the tablets (vs. chew them) so the taste isn't an issue. However, they used to smell HORRIBLY like fish when they first came out...that is also the one and only time I made the mistake of chewing them, and almost thew up. 
But now they smell slightly of orange and all is good. 
I have always taken the version in the black box, but will probably switch to the new extra strength formula when I run out. |
