I am so dissapointed today looking at the mirror with peelies all over my face except my forehead, don't feel like going out and am too lucky it's a weekend, or else I can't go to work like this.
I am on my 15th week of Obagi Nu-Derm, previously just have some peelies around my mouth and my chin. I did apply more of the Tretinoin with Blender the last 3 nights compare to just a pea size before.
My question is :
Did I use too much of the Tretinoin? And if it happens again, how do you hide the peelies? |

Hi Mely
I am not sure if youre using too much.
But, ugh those peelies are a pain.
I use my microfiber wash cloth and take care of them. I love my microfiber cloth.

Hi, Mely09.
I have heard many good things about la Roche-Posay Cicaplast Epidermal Recovery Accelerator. It contains a mineral complex of zinc/manganese/copper and is supposed to be perfect to hide peeling and flaking skin. I recall some of the Dermaroller-users told they used it with success the days after rolling. If you do a Google-search you will find some pretty good reviews on this product.
I have not used it myself, but I have bookmarked this product in case I am going to need it some time.

Septembergirl,
That does sound perfect. Here is what it says Madecassoside
Definition: Purified molecule from Centella asiatica ( Gotu Kola ) When used topically, it has been shown to enhance wound healing and help clear chronic skin lesions. It increases the production of collagen during wound healing and also tends to increase the strength of the deposited collagen.
whoo hoo "tends to increase strength of the deposited collagen"
Its going on my list too. |

Thank you ladies for your response.
I always used my PSF Microfibre cloth, both AM and PM and it helps get rid of the peelies around my mouth and the chin area. But today is different, very obvious peeling, after cleansing, toner, clear, especially after the spf35, I can see all the peelies all around my face, and I know I can't cover it up with foundation 'coz it will just get worse.
Could my face be too dry? Should I apply moisturizer more often, contradict to what Obagi says, don't moisturize as it will slow down the treatment?
Any Obagi Nu-derm user used this long or longer still peeling every now and then? |

When my peeling gets real bad and I have to go to a social event or somewhere where it would bother me to be seen peeling so much I will wipe my face gently with a wet facial wipe, apply sunscreen, then a moisturizer, and finally powder foundation. I only do this when absolutely necessary because I don't want to slow down my results from Obagi. Most of the time the peeling doesn't bother me because I am so excited to see my newly improved skin underneath the peelies. I don't really care what others think, but I recently had to go to a wedding so I brought along a little skincare kit that included the items I listed above. I would go to the bathroom to check on my skin about every two hours to see how I looked and if the peeling was starting to get obvious, I would do the steps I listed above. |

Mely, you can try a gentle scrub. The microfiber cloth usually works, but sometimes a scrub is a little better. Really try your best not to moisturize, but if you have to, I would follow what keli13 suggested. There is a product called micro exfoliating scrub by La Roche Posay that my nurse always recommended. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. I am using Fresh appleseed exfoliating scrub and this stuff is fantastic. It really brightens the skin after using it (temporary of course!) |

Thanks for your tips, at least I know what to do if it happens again.
Rilleygirl,
Are you still on Obagi maintenance? Do you use any moisturizer? Thanks. |

I did a 4 week course with obagi and just ended 2 weeks ago. Right now, I am using the remergent skin care stuff. I am just starting the barrier repair, so I guess that would be a moisturizer! I am also giving the remergent HQ a try to see how it compares to obagi. I just started this today. When you get to maintenance, Mely, you can use a moisturizer or anything else you want on your days that you are not using the obagi products. HTH! |
