We are going to a wedding soon and people tell me normally it's good to give them money as a gift. I know there are times with buying from their registry is a good idea too.
How do you know how much money to give? Do most of you give money or registry? |

Good friends = money + gift
Family = money + gift
Acquaintances or work associates = registry gift |

My husband and I very much appreciated the money -- we used it to buy most of our 'grown-up' furniture. We very delicately mentioned about our preference on our wedding website in advance.
Give as much as you can and want.
Our "envelopes" ranged in value from $100 (friends, but not the closest) to $800 (bride's maid, very close and very generous); some close family (parents/uncles) gave more, but they obviously are a "special case" |

I think money is the way to go. The amount to give really depends on how close you are to the couple. |
