Hi again!
for me it's my second pregnancy now. About the stretch marks - welllll - doctors and serious skin care specialist tend to agree that if you are genetically pre-disposed (ie you mom had them) and/or if you sharply gain weight, there is little you can do to prevent stretch marks.
During my first pregnancy I used mustela, weleda, various cosmetic oils, tried different over-the-counter products.. Have No stretch marks on the belly, but plenty on the breasts Sad
-- i guess because skin there is much more delicate and i had a more sudden increase in size there..
So now i'm just using pregnancy oils from Weleda (they are very natural and nutritious) and some whole foods body oil brands..
The good thing is even if the stretch marks appear, they really fade with time and become not so terrible - especially if you generally take good care of your skin (moisturizing, eating well, exercising, drinking lots of water, etc).

Thanks for the advice! This is my first so I have no idea whether I will get it or not. I also spread cream over my breasts. but sometimes I just got lazy...I saw some pictures of people's stretch marks that look like the skin of a watermelon, scary!

I saw the pregnancy oil from Weleda at a health food store, it costs CAD 32, pretty expensive. I bought burt's bee's mama belly butter instead, but didn't really like the texture of belly butter. thinking of getting that weleda oil next time.

What about stretch marks that have that creppy texture? What would work for that? When I lost weight I got them on my underarms and breasts.

Hi I found this on saffronRouge, they have both strech mark cream and oil to elimiate existing ones, check it out.

Stretch Mark Oil
by Erbaviva

Help eliminate the appearance of stretch marks while reducing any that you already have with this ultra hydrating oil. Rose and carrot seed essential oils ensure that skin is soft, protected and moisturized. For best results, use along with the Erbaviva Stretch Mark Cream. (apply the Cream in the mornings and the Oil in the evenings).
Size: 120mL/4fl.oz

I quite like Vitamin E Oil, any brand is good, it has always worked for me on both stretch marks and scars.
Congratulations on the pregnancy Smile

Thanks, I have a bottle of Vitamin E oil too, but it is too thick, very hard to spread on the body, I alway mix a drop or two with other cream/lotion before applying. But I didnt see any results with the scars, I have a scar from burning on my belly, I tried lots of products but it just don't go away...

I think I would need a stretch mark cream that would rebuild skin collagen because I have these sort of indented marks on the sides of my booobies and underarms....kind of hard to describe without posting pics and I don't wanna do that!! LOL I'd LOVE to find something that would help this, unfortunately I haven't Sad

I must say, that not all stretchmarks fade. Ten years down the line and mine are still not faded. It depends how wide they are and how deep. And believe me, stretchmarks can be surprisingly deep.

The best thing I have found for it is dermarolling and treating with Supercop and Emu oil.

just curious, when do those stretch marks start to grow? I am 5 months now, so far I don't see any on my belly, just wondering if they will show up in the late pregnancy....

All you can do to help with stretch marks is drink lots of water, EXFOLIATE and moisturize. Stretch marks happen because skin loses elasticity. I hate stretch marks and most women have it...unfortunately there is nothing you can do once you have the stretch marks. But to help prevent them i would exfoliate the belly a 2-3 times a week and use palmers cocoa butter in a circular motion when applying it on your belly

They can appear at any point Sad they have a mind of their own Bad Grin

Mine started showing up on the breasts at 3rd month, and got worse after the birth when milk came Sad

My belly is OK, probably because the weight gain has been more gradual.

Don't stress over it, just do your best at exfoliating-moisturizing,.. but it's not the end of the world if they do appear..
I also heard that you can treat them afterwords with laser, with good success rate.

^ stretch marks happen through puberty, pregnancy and rapid weight gain.
I've had my stretch marks since puberty in high school on my hips, butt and boobs

I gained about 50% of my body weight for my first pregnancy 18 years ago and got really bad stretch marks on my breasts and my inner thighs. I didn't use any creams during any pregnancy. 2-3 months ago I started taking MSM supplements for pigmentation, and had some unexpected results. My stretch marks are gradually filling in. I also had a deep burn scar about 1" diameter that has filled in and lightened. I read that MSM helps build collagen. I'm really not sure if MSM is safe to take while pregnant or nursing, but it's something to keep in mind for afterwards. You should check out the MSM thread. http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewtopic.php?tid=20364

Thanks, I took MSM supplements before the pregnancy, if that works on your stretch marks, definitely I will keep an eye on it after birth.

Not sure if it will work for everyone, but with all it's other benefits it's not going to hurt. BTW, congrats on the pregnancy. Hope everything goes well.
