I bought this product from EDS after reading a thread about Azelaic Acid.

I had heard about this acid years before and requested a prescription from a well-known dermatologist in my area who responded by saying, "Azelaic acid is an older-generation product that is no longer in use because it was found to be ineffective."

I decided to go ahead and try this product anyhow. I was getting desperate. My skin often flushed by the least rise in my temperature or mood change, then I'd develop little red dots that would turn to acne. In fact, I had a whole set of these red spots that seemed permanent. They would flare at times, then settle back.

The dermatologist assured me they'd heal and go away in time, but a year later, they were still not fading.

The product:
The product is a clear gel with a 10% concentration of Azelaic acid, as well as other interesting ingredients. It goes on smoothly, creating an invisible layer over the skin. You will smell the alcohol as it evaporates, but there is no other scent.

Ingredients:
Alcohol 40, Azelaic Acid, Glycosaminoglycans, Glycerin, Water, Butylene Glycol, Tilia Cordata (Linden Tree) Wood Extract, Cupressus Sempervirens (Cypress Nut) See Extract, Aesculus Hippocastanum (Horse Chestnut) Seed Extract, Lecithin, Carbomer

My experience:
I did not like the texture for 2 reasons:
1. It did not allow for the application of makeup on top, as it would be streaky and uneven.
2. I simply don't like to use alcohol on my skin. The alcohol is supposed to help the ingredients penetrate, but it can also dry the skin overtime.

I ended up switching to using the product only at night after the second day. Within a week, my skin was already showing some positive results. The redness was lessening and there were no breakouts. Over the following week, I had a very stressful episode that would normally cause me to break out, but I didn't!

The final verdict:
This product is effective for my mild/moderate rosacea and acne. However, I'd use a non-alcohol based cream or lotion if I had the choice. Still, I am extremely happy with the results! 3 weeks later, I no longer need to apply layers of makeup to hide the redness, and I have not had one breakout!

Thank you for the thorough review, Morphy. It seems like this works best as a night time product.
