Hey Tracyh
I wish i could help you on the First Facial topic but I have never done one except at home.
As for the products,
I have started using Decleor Line. I had oily, sensitive, once in a while breakout prone skin. But now it has change. I use Decleor Aromessence ylang ylang oil and balm. My proes have shrunk a lot. I have alos became less oily. Of course you would choose the duo depending on your skin type.
You can also use start using Vitamin C serum. You should read the article posted by JudyMarshall and you may get a better idea.
Try using Viver 10% serum, but was a bit oily for me since i have oily skin.
Also Decleor cleansing Gel help with my pores. A glycolic base cleanser might be good too.
hope this helps |

Tracyh,
Enjoy your first facial! If your go to a reputable facialist she will observe your skin type and give you a facial in accordance to your needs. I would check before hand to make sure that they have several high end products that they use for their clients.
If you are not familiar with product it is best to let an expert advice you.
What to look for in a salon/spa: How long have they been in business, how busy are they. Try to book your facial with a facialist that has some experience behind them. Don't be afraid to ask questions. You are paying for this service. |

I had my first facial two days ago. I live in a rural area and didn't think I would ever find a spa near me. This is the one I found just in case anyone wonders what one would be like here.

I was worried it wouldn't be what I expected, but I loved it and feel I got very professional treatment! I got the deluxe facial which was 60 minutes of pure bliss. They use only Dermalogica products for skin care. The facial is supposed to include cleansing, toning, exfoliation, massage, masque and extractions. Near the end of the facial was my favorite part.....the facial massage! Wow I'd love to know how to do that part! The facialist said I had really good skin. She couldn't even find anything to extract! I was so proud of myself for that! Thanks ladies and EDS!
I also got an eyelash tint and I love that too and wonder how I ever went without it. I'll be one of their best customers now.
Afterward, the facialist told me everything she used on my face and gave me samples of each. She didn't encourage me to buy or try to sell me anything. Of course, being the product whore that I am, I purchased the full sizes of almost everything. Here's what I bought:
1. Dermalogica Ultracalming Cleanser
2. Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant
3. Dermalogica Soothing Protection Spray
4. Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream
5. Dermalogica Total Eye Care SPF 15
6. Dermalogica Multivitamin Power-Firm for eyes & Lips
7. Dermalogica Solar Booster SPF 30
I made an appointment to come back in a month. The facialist suggested another facial in 6 weeks, but since she said the eyelash tint only lasts 4 weeks I made the appointment for both. Geez I could have the facials daily. Good thing I don't live too near.
It was a wonderful, relaxing experience and my face is still glowing. I was worried about purging, but so far so good.
Hmmm...now I'm scanning the brochure for other services they offer.
