Hey all,
For those of you who use vitamin C serums, how often do you use them? I've just started using it once a day, but I'm wondering how much added benefit there'd be using it twice a day.
Thanks,
Jamie |

You do not want to use Vit C more than once a day....it isn't necessary, and may not be the best for your skin.
Do a search on the forum (see the top of every page for the search feature) for elastin and Yarosh, and you will see a quote I just shared yesterday from Dr. Yarosh on the unknown relationship between elastin and Vit C.
More is not always better. |

I don't think there is additional benefit from using it twice a day. Once daily in the morning is more than enough. Morning use is better as it can boost the protection from your sunscreen.
I have read some people's posts that vit. C can remain in the skin for up to 3 days, so in theory, even alternate day usage would be OK. Especially in view of the article posted by Bethany.
Perhaps some of our science "experts" on this forum would chime in here. |

For the last 8 years I have been using Vit C serums of various kinds (Skinceuticals with Ferulic acid, Viver Kine-C, Vivier C with Vit E and so on). I use the serum only once a day. Seems good enough for me! |

I was using it once a day, every morning. I should go back to it. |

I'm not a science expert, though I have read some of the studies on Pubmed. Once a day is the protocol they tend to use, so that's what I usually do (though I don't obsess over it--if I'm going away for a day or two I don't bother to tote my C serum with me.) |

I apply my CE Ferulic once daily in the am except on the occasions when I use a copper serum in the pm - then I use a different antiox in the am so as to prevent interference between the Cu and the vit C. |

Agree with the above all. Using Vc Once daily is enough for you. |

I just use mine once a day. I remember reading a while ago on this Forum that using it at night time is a waste as it does nothing for your skin. I think you get the full benefits of it in daylight (I think that's right??) |

I use it once a day in the morning. It's the first thing I apply, then I wait 10 to 15 minutes and apply my moisturizer/sunscreen. I've been using it for a couple of years. My favorite is from PSF. I keep it refrigerated because C can go bad pretty quickly, especially if the brand does not use a lot of chemical preservatives (which I prefer). |

You can apply it twice a day but someone aware of it turns out orange color in day time. It can oxidize by the air and turns out to be orange color. So, I prefer using nightime only, rather than daytime. |

I think one application at night while your skin is "resting" is more than enough. You don't want to overdo using the cream.

I certainly wouldn't use a Vitamin C serum that turned orange--no reputable one that I have used does. There is some evidence that Vitamin C is protective from sun damage (though not a substitute for sunscreen), so using it in the daytime would give that benefit as well. |

I use Vit. C Serum in the morning.
Someone mentioned above that they only wear their vit. C serum at night because it turns orange on their face. I have never heard of that. I have used Skinceuticals and Cellex-C Vit. C Serums and the serum when purchased is clear. After 3 months it will start turning orange, and I discard and purchase a new one which is clear when it is fresh. I have never put a clear Vit. C Serum on and then have it go orange on my face. You may want to check with the manufacturer on that, doesn't sound right. |
