Hi, let me first of all introduce myself to you, I am from South Africa and I have been lurking and reading your wonderful forum for years now- on the lookout for recipes for natural skin care since I have fibromyalgia, ME, and possibly Lupus with weird skin rashes and allergies. Thanks to you my shelves are now lined with Jojoba, Rose Hip, Castor and Avocado oil- all working wonders and causing no reactions.

I have also tried Vit C formulations and developed a severe allergic reaction to all products containing this.
Having seen the great thread on Copper peptides I had to try this! No skin reactions so far but I have just stumbled upon the remark by a poster that mentioned that copper seems to affect her sleep. Well, for days now I have not been sleeping- normally a problem for me in any case- but this was serious insomnia!!! I immediately started reading up on Copper. The information is wide and often contradictory with earlier studies contradicting the latest studies but the bottom line is that: “These data suggest that high dietary intake of copper in conjunction with a diet high in saturated and trans fats may be associated with accelerated cognitive decline.” I already have memory, depression and sleep problems and am certainly not going to risk taking in any additional Copper. Into the bin with my CP Serum!!!!

I am reverting to all that is natural and good, especially after reading the report on moisturisers’ drying effect on skin.I attach this report on Copper for your information

Copper Toxicity: Health Effects

Copper has been found in higher levels in the bloodstream of people with Alzheimer's disease, but too much copper can cause other health problems as well.

If you take in too much copper, you may have abdominal pain, cramps, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting and liver damage. Meanwhile, elevated copper levels, in particular when zinc levels are also low, have been linked to a number of conditions, including:

Schizophrenia

Hypertension

Stuttering

Fatigue and headaches

Muscle and joint pain

Autism and childhood hyperactivity

Depression

Insomnia

Senility

Premenstrual syndrome

Copper toxicity is of particular concern to pregnant women, as copper levels nearly double in women during this time. It can take three months after delivery for copper levels to return to normal, and the excess copper during this time has been linked to postpartum depression in some women.

Welcome to the forum, avocado. Smile

Yes, taking too much copper or any other mineral or oil-soluble vitamins orally can cause health problems.

However, I think it's very unlikely that topical application of copper peptides on your face once daily will cause an overdose of copper in your body. I believe that the amounts of copper entering your bloodstream are too small to cause copper toxicity.

Dr. Pickart (of Skin Biology) has said that the copper binds to the peptides and does not cause any negative effects on the large amts of CPs used.

They had controlled human clinical skin-ulcer studies done in the '90s for the FDA and he said: "We had rabbits and rats treated with a high dose of copper peptides on their skin for six months by an outside, independent laboratory. At the end of this, their skin was perfectly healthy."

don't throw away your CPs. your memory, depression & sleep problems are not related to them. try taking more seratonin for that
