About the pebbliness that Antonia mentioned, I also just very recently started to have it on the lower lid, by the inner corner, and I really hated it.

So, aside from the exercises in Ageless, I started brushing my lids, as well as pinching and pulling them. At first they looked red and a little swollen. Now, about 6 weeks later, they are fine and the pebbly look is no longer there.

Holee...really? That's VERY encouraging...thanks. I'm goign to get out one of my new toothbrushes. Smile

LOL well it depends on the person, I think the earlier one starts the better.

With facial exercises its not just making motion, its using resistance to engage the muscles (and thus the skin attached to the muscle) to do a movement. Whereas, an ordinary facial motion doesn't engage the muscle completely only partially and it doesn't use resistance.

If you have wrinkles already, I would probably treat them with topicals of some sort, but your right, in making an expression such as frowning, at times it can cause impressions, but its a little different when you exercise those muscles.

I read that the earlier the better, however, 70% of the reason we get wrinkles are repeated motion, isn't these face exercises just repeating motions and hence causing wrinkles to appear 10years before they would normally?

I'm only 19 and have had forehead wrinkles since 17 due to repeated frowning only..

Gah! I was trying to post an image using my website for hosting but it didn't work. I used the Img button, then the url, then closed with the img button. That seems logical to me. Did I miss anything? The url is correct.

Anyway, so as to not waste this post...the image was of my cheeks, which are definitely well raised after five and a half weeks of LouLou'ing.

Seany: different?
How so?

Has there been some actual scientific studies on these facial exercises proving they are effective and not wrinkle inducing?

There's 2 factors in wrinkling that really matters:
Sun and repetitive motion.

The exercises seem to be very repetitive, how is this not goin to cause wrinkling?

Perfectionist, I think you should perhaps read through this entire thread and also the introduction to LouLou's book. I hear where you are coming from as, for two decades now, I have been a medical journalist and marketer for dermatologists, pharmaceutical firms and what-not. During this time, I have probably written five articles slamming facial exercise as a wrinkle-inducer. (Derms will tell you that you get wrinkles on the philtrum due to smoking, crows' feet due to squinting, etc. and they are absolutely correct in this regard.) Expression lines such as crows' feet and frown lines are caused by motion repeated many times daily. The skin literally settles into the shape in which it is constantly pulled by underlying musculature. Thus, if I don't wear my glasses and squint constantly, I develop lines.

Facial exercises such as F/E and LL, do indeed pull at the skin, but in a different way, and not several times a day. This, for most women who have tried them, pulls out the wrinkles that have been caused by pulling in a different direction. I laughed when I first came to this board and saw this thread. I even joked about it to my husband. Then I looked at the posters and realized they were not morons but highly intelligent and knowledgeable women. So, I started doing LL's program and was floored when my cheekbone shape changed (actually the soft tissues over the cheekbones as the zygomaticus muscles were tautened). My jaw is also very well defined. I have one minor issue with my lower lid being pushed upwards, making my eyes appear smaller, however, I appear unique in this regard. Perhaps it is due to my very deep-set eyes.

Also, I have no wrinkle development, except for a rash of tiny pebble-like things that appeared after a lower bleph.

Believe me, no one could be more surprised than I...

Regarding my face... As you can see, I have deep clefts in my NL area - something I've had since birth due to a very small upper palate and teeth formation. I have these filled with Radiesse. The rest of me is au naturel. No Botox or fillers or PhotoShopping! The first pic was taken in mid-October and the other about ten days ago. Bren has very kindly agreed to post the pics for me so you can judge for yourselves whether the cheeks are really higher or I have a fertile imagination.

Wow..you look amazing...baby cheeks! Those are the cheeks we hated as kids (at least I used to...wanted the gaunt model look) and know we all want them back....I know I do. Wonderful...you put the ageless into ageless...

Antonia - you look AMAZING!

I find it hard to believe that you are in your 50s (approaching 40s is more like it).

I am so impressed - by the youthful look and the results of the exercises.

WOW!

Well, thanks Embarassed I have really noticed a difference to the face shape through exercising and the general tone of my skin seems to be improving with the BQ and the Dermaroller. I have been using Remergent DNA, covered with SkinActives Rejuvenating Cream in the am and Mitchondrial Boost in the pm. CP x2 twice a week in the am instead of the Remergent. Sunscreen always in the am. For my eyes, I use Dermalastyl.

Radiesse in the trenches...

The higher cheeks seem to make my face look way younger. So here's a great big THANKS OTHERLOULOU!!!! (and thanks again, Bren for posting the pics...)

Antonia, you are so beautiful! Such an inspiration! My mother had already had a facelift by your age - it's so refreshing to see a woman in her 50's look so fabulous WITHOUT surgery. Now that I am in my 40's I am in a fierce fight to look decent and be surgery free! You may have stated before, but how long have you been doing Ageless for?

Oh Antonia! You are so pretty!!! The longer hair is most flattering - it softens your appearance!

To echo charis, how long have you been doing Ageless??

It was difficult to analyze Antonia’s photos because she’s so pretty in the “before” picture, but here’s what I saw when comparing the photos:

Lifted eyelids (visible space on the lid area)
Higher brows
Fuller lips (especially the upper)
Bridge of nose seemed to fill in
Improved skin tone (!!)
Chin area looks built (more space between bottom of lip and chin)

Good job, Antonia!

Antonia, you look fabuloso girl ... Dancing

The only difference I notice is you look even nicer in the more recent picture.. Your skin looks glorious, and your face just looks pretty and natural. I also love your hair!

I was trying to see what you meant about "your eyes looking smaller", but I don't see that at all.

You are beautiful, and now that you found EDS, you will stay that way.... Very Happy

Shucks, Kassy, you are too kind.
It's interesting about the skin. I've not noticed it looking much different, although it seems better toned. The "before" shot was taken in Hawaii and it may just be the greasy old sunscreen that made my skin look, well, greasy Laughing

jewells, now those are interesting observations indeed. I can see them in the photographs but I'm not sure that I see a change in real life. I do have to say that the upper eye area is lifted though. I have been doing the LouLous there without pinching the lid, but just pushing the heel of my hand into the eye socket and trying to open my eye while pretending it's glued shut. Also the one where you anchor the outside of the orbicularis...

Antonia, you're looking very pretty!!
I think in the after photo your face looks a bit slimmer, your skin texture looks very good (but in the before pic your skin looked great already!)

I think I do notice your eyes having become a bit smaller, but it could be due to the different angle of the photo, it's hard to tell.
Your eyes look a bit deeper set as well in the after pic.
I think that the raising of the cheekbones may cause the eyes to be set higher like somebody mentioned in the other thread and I also wonder if the 'wish exercise' doesn't cause the eyes to become deeper set and make them look smaller when the muscle around the eye becomes firmer and thicker. I don't know, that's just my thought. But I would only expect such changes from overdoing certain exercises..
Anyway, maybe you need to do a rest period and not exercise for a while or skip certain exercises.?
I hope Sean or Loulou can give more explanation of why these changes can occur..

You look truly amazing Antonia! I would definitely have guessed 30s. Your eyes look quite a lot bigger to me, not smaller. And your skin is really glowing!
I really like your eyebrows by the way. Hope you don't mind me asking, but are they really tattooed? (Hehe, I had to come back and edit, so you won't misunderstand and get offended. They don't look tattooed, but I thought you mentioned in another thread that they were..?).I'm always struggling to find something that looks natural and quite light to define mine, but haven't really succeded so far.
