I just started Obagi NuDerm 3 days ago. I have a leftover Obagi C serum that I never finished before I went on NuDerm. It's the one with 10% Ascorbic Acid as well as 4% Hydroquinone. I know that some people put a C serum under obagi each morning. However they usually would use the one with no Hydroquinonem since Clear already contains this ingredient. Do you think it is too much Hydroquinone if I use this as well?

I like how the Obagi one with hydroquinone is very stable. I also am really interested in SkinMedica's CE serum since it is in an anhydrous base which makes it stable as well. If I can't use the Obagi C serum with hydroquinone, could I use the SkinMedica one under my Obagi products in the morning?

Nu Derm has you use:
- Clear in the AM (4% HQ)
- Clear (4%) and Blender (4%) in the PM

So by adding another 4% in the AM, you are not increasing the HQ by a huge percent. It most likely won't cause the dreaded darkening from too high a dosage.

If you have a partial bottle left, using it up probably won't hurt. But if you are going to open a new bottle, I would be opening one without HQ.

I think it would be overkill, myself, but if you keep the C-RX to 3-4 drops only, you would probably be ok.

I don't think the skinmedica C is good with the Obagi. (I think it is a good C product, just not right with Obagi. You want a liquid topical, so the Clear, Exfoderm, etc can penetrate well after using the C. That said, the choice is yours and you could try it and see how your results go!)

RileyGirl, I tried googling liquid topical but didn't get much info. Could you tell me the difference between a liquid topical and whatever the opposite is? I'm using Nu-Derm with a Vitamin C serum (Ester-C Serum Hyper-C by Jason Natural) in the morning, and am worried that I'm negating the effectiveness of the Nu-Derm!

Thanks!!!

I think I will continue to use a bit of my obagi C Rx. Since I don't use the Sunfader (4% HQ) I am getting 4% HQ in the C RX. So I guess it's all the same. I wont continue with it when it runs out though. Thanks for your guys help

Hi Rileygirl,

So, would the SkinCeuticals C+E be a better choice?

TIA!

I believe so, taobunny. Obagi makes the topical C, as well, without HQ. I prefer Skinceuticals C, E, Ferulic. I also really believe that the CEF helps one fade freckles quicker while on the Nu Derm system than just nu derm alone (at least in my case that is true!)

For Obagi topical C, what % do I have to use?? there are 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% options in EDS ..

I couldn't find Skinceuticals C, E, Ferulic in EDS. I prefer to purchase in here, though..

If the result would be the same, I might go with Obagi Product. What do you think???

I'm not sure, azumma. I prefer the skinceuticals. If you go with the Obagi, I would go with the 15%.
