I recently purchased the Skinceuticals CF Phloretin samples on eBay and had a question about its consistency.
Mind you, I've used all of the Skinceuticals serums in the past (CE Ferulic, AOX 15, AOX 20) and I must say that the consistency of the Phloretin just doesn't feel...right.
It doesn't have that particular smell that the other vit C serums have. It doesn't taste the same either (don't ask hehe). It is totally clear, without even a hint of color (the other ones have always been a bit of a very pale champagne color before oxidizing). It feels more greasy than the AOX 20 even though the Phloretin is geared toward the oilier types like myself. And lastly, it doesn't sting at all which is something I always feel when I initially use a c serum in the morning.
Maybe the sting-less feel comes from me using higher % vitamin c in the past but this shouldn't be the case since I actually haven't used a c serum for the last two weeks before getting this new batch (I had run out of my 20 %). And naturally, the phloretin is probably what makes the difference. I guess I just want to know if I got the real deal or not, since I got it on eBay and all, from SkinMedix.
So, what's the consistency/smell/taste/sting factor really supposed to be like? You can skip on the taste test, though. |

For the feel keep in mind its in a different base then other serums.
Even though you have not used C for 2 weeks, I'm sure you built up a tolerance using 20% and CF is only 10%.
I have some samples also. I will pass on the taste test
But its very clear serum. This is a rather new product so thats probably why they are so clear, no one has old stock. And for me it does not feel greasy at all, it absorbs super quick.
SkinMedix has a good rep from what I have read, thats where I got mine. They also have a real web site store. |

The one I got also does not have a smell like the other skinceutical C's, and it was crystal clear. No greasy feel to mine. I will say that the Phloretin turned dark very quickly, probably within 2 months. The C, E, Ferulic lasts a lot longer and stays the champagne color much longer than the Phloretin did for me. |

If you store it in the fridge will last a very long time without oxidizing. I always keep them in the fridge and decant about 2 wks worth out into one of the sample size droppers. I've had AOX last 6 months with change in color this way. |

Thanks everyone for your suggestions!
So far I still don't get that "glow" I used to get when I applied the 20%, but my face gets less greasy and I have less blackheads with the CF Phloretin... |

Have you noticed any major improvements with this serum? I did the first night I used it then after that, I am not sure I see any results. I am wondering if anyone else experienced this. |

IMO this is more of preventative type product. You may not see any major changes but its working 'behind the scene' to prevent damage. |

Oh thanks for the clarification. I did not know that. Do you use it at night or during the day? |
