I had fractional CO2 laser 2 weeks ago, a very aggressive Active FX. 1 week out, very swollen and red, streaky, etc. My MD said that she used very strong settings because of my willingness for prolonged downtime.
All went well except for under my eyes, where the tissue was really wounded and especially under one very inflamed. Antibiotics and time healed that, and 2 weeks post I was doing well with really great results around my eyes. I was hoping to treat a few small depressed acne chin scars, which are still there, but my eye area looks amazing. I am in my 40's (late!) and have always used retin A but my eye area had a few crinkles.
So...today, 2 weeks out, all was well, eyes were looking great this morning, everything else better. But I am moving from a very hot area, 109 today... moving boxes with my big hat and sunscreen into my car.
Tonight my skin was super red, hot, streaky, and so inflamed. Eyes swollen and red as they were 5 days ago. I have heard that fractional co2 laser causes increased blood flow to the uninjured areas as a result of the injured areas. And today's heat and activity in my still healing state probably set this off.
So I washed off the sunscreen with cleansing oil and cetaphil, put on Replenix green tea serum, and used my lightstim (AALS) LED which I have not used in months.
Such relief 2 hours later. My eyes are back to normal, redness and swelling decreased, itchy hot feeling is gone.
Also, I was browsing realself and found this quote from a derm: "A paper recently precented at the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery by a physician's group from McGill University and RoseLab Skin Optics Research, Montreal, Canada shows a reduction in uo to 64% of the treated areas in the melanin index in patients treated with LED therapy. This means a decreased risk of hyperpigmentation when treated with LED Light Therapy after having CO2 laser treatments."
So, even though LED light treatment may be dismissed as useless or not effective, I do believe in the anti inflammatory effects. And tonight, I look and feel so much better.

I was told by my doctor and found it to be true that up until 3 months post-CO2 I might have flare ups. My skin stayed red for the first month, pink the second and still blotchy until after the 3rd with flares up. Living in a humid/hot environment it didn't take much.
I didn't go back to using my Baby Q until the second month or so and it did help with the swelling from my upper and lower bleph (which was done at the same time).
Speedy recovery! |

Good to know Annie, thanks so much for sharing. After the 3 months the flare ups resolved? This recovery has been much more of a pain than I thought it would be!
Were you happy with your final results? |

I didn't see much of a difference to be honest. They say the results take time.
I had the most visible difference from the EXCEL Laser. |
