I'm waiting for my husband to get laid off--he's third in line in his work group, so it's pretty likely. So I'm on a pretty strict "skincare diet"--using up products I have and thinking hard about purchases. Still, I probably will bite the bullet and get the facial exercise DVD.

The credit crunch hasnt really affected me much. Well, I still cant find a job but its not made me spend any less on my beauty/skincare products. I always ponder about whether to buy something, but thats not because of the economic crisis, but just that I dont want to break out from using it Wink

I am using up my stash too. Holding off on buying things I would've bought originally. I'm going to start making my own C potion (THanks Kassie) and less expensive cleansers. I don't do facials, rarely get manicures/pedicures, etc. All at-home.

I just got botox after 6+months but it was on special - I paid $130.00 and I'm good for another 6 months I hope.

Definately. I find myself being more frugal than usual. But its also good, beacuse a lot of more expensive products are not better. It forces you to go beyond the hype and look at the science of what you are putting on your skin.

I've recently been running out of my regular skincare products and I haven't replaced anything yet. I am totally out of my JB Blemish Clearing Serum and I'm starting to notice that it actually worked! Confused

I've been contemplating which products I'm going to use as replacements and it breaks my heart. My business is slow so I'm in school again and changing careers in January. Times are tough for us all and the bad news about the world economy doesn't help. At least it's going to be incentive for me to kick start my new career so I can once again afford all my HG products! Very Happy

I guess the economic crash has affected my cosmetic spending. So I'm waiting and hope there is a discount someday to save my pocket money.

Hope the Christmas Day would make my dream come true.

Let it come soon!

I don't really feel the economic crash affects me much or at all I dare to say. Very Happy cuz I don't really get stocks or anything like that. Also, I work for a specialist so it's not likely that I'll get laid off! *touch wood*

In fact, I've been spending a lot these days on clothings, shoes, and cosmetics cuz of the Christmas sale... Smile

The Aussie dollar has plummeted, so it's affected my spending because I buy most of my stuff on the web. Luckily though I had stocked up on most of my DIY ingredients before the crash.

In addition to that, my husband has recently retired and we now have to watch our pennies so spending money on fillers is definitely more difficult. Has anyone else noticed the price of Botox and fillers getting more expensive. I used to get collagen in my lip border for AUD$280.00, it's now AUD$340.00. I also cut and colour my own hair now because the cost of going to the hairdressers is totally ridiculous.

Not really. I'd rather be sleeping under bridges and looking beautiful than the alternative. Bad Grin After that tasteless comment... I have been buying more actives to place in existing creams as opposed to buying more expensive ready-mades. Who knows? I might create something beneficial. I did break down and buy the Baby Quasar though Anxious

I will still buy skincare products which are helpful and suitable for my skin, even they are a little expensive. But I won't make a try of other products frequently.

I'm from Australia and the falling Aussie dollar has made me stop and think before I buy anything on Ebay. However, this is a good thing. I buy far too many lippies on impulse and about 30% end up being colours that don't work on my skintone and end up given away to other people.

It hasn't made any difference to my skincare products for two reasons.

1 - I use only a few products, all very reasonably priced.

2 - Wayne and I were already living well below our income and haven't had to tighten our belts due to the economic slowdown. Luckily we have some wiggle room.

I hear ya, luckylouie...I buy fewer color cosmetics, cuz, really, I have the colors already that work best for me, why duplicate?

I am sitting on my hands to keep from buying the latest and greatest skin care treats (and that $95 hair serum)....and sticking with the basics (retin-a, vit C, ss, moisturizer) for now.

And, since we cut way back on our restaurant-going, we really HAVE tightened our belts!! LOL. But no more Botox or Juvederm for me...uh uhhhhh....I'm hoping the facial exercises will stave off the pull of gravity for me in a more economical way...

I try to stay away from the cosmetics counters, the glossy women's fashion magazines and all that, but still find things I just have to try! Word-of-mouth is still advertising and ppl here on EDS are so wonderful about reporting new things that I must see.... I try to go to MUA first to try to swap my things that didn't work for someone else's, but that doesn't always work out! Such an * spam alert *, isn't it!!

I think I am less likely to try new things, and generally assess every thing as a "need vs. want" before spending the bucks. Though I do admit to picking up a few wants. Embarassed

But I am not to the point that I am going without my favorite products...I made some cutbacks in other areas to offset that, like scaling back the cable tv that I don't watch, spending $100+ a month feeding raccoons outside (yes, the Beth Buffet has CLOSED) Embarassed , eating out less, etc.

And I am trying to stock up during holiday sales...if I am going to buy it anyway, I may as well get it cheaper!

I have definitely cut back on what I order online. The guilt is too much! I have decided to put my energy into regularly doing facial exercises to improve my skin rather than investing in every product that comes along that promises to do it effortlessly. Laughing

I am pretty proud of myself in terms of the money I have spent (or shall I say saved) on Christmas gifts this year. I bought a whole bunch of these awesome aromatherapy soaps that I found at Ice Elements.com and put together really neat gifts, if I don't say so myself. I did buy a few soaps for myself because they smell so...good but that is the extent of my buying lately.

Me too!! Those have been BIG expenditures for me over the last 2+ years since I am resistant to Botox (and therefore require more) and also seem to metabolize fillers very quickly too. (why can't I metablize my calories like that? Rolling Eyes )

I’ve been stocking up on online orders from Australia since the AU$ plunged. But definitely not good for those living in Aus and/or earning in Aus dollars though.
