I was just wondering if anyone has had a Vitalize peel and how your results were? I am thinking of getting a few. My concerns are pores/texture/mild hyperpigmentation. |

Its a chemical peel with several ingredients. It is made by SkinMedica. Some dermatologists use this peel in their office. |

honestly, i would steer clear of peels if you are subject to hyperpigmentation. peels make your skin VERY sun-sensitive, and the hyperpigmentation is likely to come back WORSE if you make a mistake such as forgetting to apply a really high broad spectrum protection sunscreen. the vitalize peel (which i did myself twice a few years back) does leave your skin rather poreless and beautiful for a couple of months, but very very sensitive to the sun. i'm talking hats, parasols, and tons of whitish-cast physical sunblock all summer long.
if you do one in the fall your skin might be less sun-sensitive by the time summer comes around again but i do not really believe that. you are literally taking layers off the dermis and allowing more new cells to be produced. those new skin cells are very sensitive to the sun, and it is known that the sun causes hyperpigmentation.
just a long-winded way to say that a strong peel could make your problem worse, and you might be better off treating it with a product specifically created for hyperpigmentation.

Hi, I'm getting a vitalize peel done next week. I have some superficial scars from breakouts that are bothering me. Hopefully the peel will diminish them! I'll let you know how it goes! |

Hi Lorimcp,
Did you ever purchase the Perfect Peel and use it? I'm possibly interested in a do-it-at-home peel and trying to learn as much as possible. Just wondering about your experience and results!
Thanks! |

Yes, I ordered it and have done one peel. I didn't peel very much the first time, but I don't always peel much with only one layer of the TCA Complex either. I am going to do it once a week and see what that gets me. Julie's recommendation is to peel off .01 micron (I think that's right, but not sure) every 5-7 days to get long term benefits.
I do really like the way it made my skin feel and look after, so I think it is worth a try. I am hoping this $60 will equal a $400 peel at the PS office with no downtime
My only complaint is that I sent an email asking a question about the peel over a week ago and never heard back. In fact, I have never had an email returned from them, but others say they talk to her a lot, so who knows. |
