good morning!
I am 55 and have been noticing my eyebrows thinning. I went to my derm. and she did blood work and everything is normal. I am using a steroid gel and she suggested using Rogaine also. I just started that. Does anyone have any suggestion? I have heard that glacoma eyedrops are good also. Any thoughts on that?

| Maybe hormonal?? I don't know if your doctor checked estrogen levels. The hair everywhere seems to thin with declining estrogen. Some ppl apply estrogen vag cream as a facial mask a couple times a week, if you have no aversions to that. I don't do that, but my BabyQ LED seems to be helping slowly to encourage mine to grow back. (I plucked the bejeezus out of them when I was younger and they quit growing.) |

| Hi Kindergartenteacher. I lost almost all of the hair in my eyebrows due to various reasons (over-plucking, age & genetics) I had micropigmentation (cosmetic tattooing) to fill them in, and provide a nicer line than my original brows had. It is very natural-looking (soft brown) and people are shocked when I tell them my brows are tattooed. I had them touched up after 5 years due to fading. I love waking up with eyebrows again! Micropigmentation is a good solution for severe hair loss of the eyebrows. To learn more, just google micropigmentation. There are lots of sites with before and after photos. It's important to find the right person. Make sure they can provide lots of photos of their work. |

Mine were pretty thin also, but since I started massaging the brow from doing Flex Effect they are really growing back in. I am going to get back to applying the growth serum from SkinActives also. As far as the eyebrow massage, just pinch and roll your skin along the brow for a minute or 2 each day. |

Here's a thread on using Lumigan (the glaucoma drops) - I'm not really in favour of this though. However, I would imagine that putting it on your eyebrows would not be as risky as on the eyelashes.
I had success in thickening up my eyebrows by using good ole Ardell Brow & Lash Growth Accelerator. It's extremely inexpensive and available from most places. |

I have a degree in Nuclear Medicine and do deal a lot with the thyroid....just wondering if you noticed any hair loss on your scalp as well? Hair loss from hypothyroidism can result in loss of the eyebrow hair (and elsewhere, more commonly the scalp) typically when it involves the eyebrow it's the outer portion of the eyebrow (don't know why this is for certain) and although it doesn't frequently occur in that area, it does happen..hyperthyroidism can cause hairloss as well, but usually not as noticeable as hypo (there are always exceptions to these cases of course!! lol)...I agree also that hormonal changes (estrogen) in the body can cause hair loss as well...
If you notice any hair loss anywhere else, I would definately have your TSH level checked to determine your thyroid activity....good luck!! |

| After my hysterectomy I lost a few but I do rub a bit of women's rogaine on the area and it helps. Also castor oil is a nice substitute. I use an old clean mascara brush and apply it to my eyebrows and lashes at night, it keeps them supple. |

Hi i used lumigan on my eyebrows it works but not as well as on the eyelashes. If you stop using it they will return back to their normal state.
Also lumigan cause discolouration of the skin, so you'd have to apply it carefully.

Hi Kindergartenteacher,
I just read that Rogaine for Men is supposed to be good for regrowing eyebrows. The article I read in Allure stated that you're supposed to use it twice a day - until the brows are as full as you want them to be - and then maintain by using once a day.
Brow powder can help in the meantime - to help give the illusion of more fullness.
