Hi all
I just received my obagi order 2 days ago. I got the normal/oily kit with 4% hydroquinone.
I also ordered the eye cream.

I don't have that much sun damage ,no freckles. and don't break out much, just have the typical t-zone.

Will using the hydroquinone make my face produce marks/spots I never had or can't see right now?
I should have done more research...

I am also wondering if I should get the 5% vit.C eye serum and 15% vit.C face serum?

My skin color is light/med.

I have been using .01% for a week or so, but got Retin-A in .05% today.

I hope someone has some good news/advice for me.

TIA~kate

Hydroquinone is to get rid of pigmentation so it should not cause it! The only time people run into problems is when they have dark skin and they either use it at a very high % or they use it for years. If your color is fair/medium its not a high risk. But always talk to your doctor.

Twiggy64, can I ask why you are using Obagi if you don't have sun damage or freckles and don't break out much? What are you hoping to improve with Obagi?

You can definitely add in a topical C after the toner and before the Clear in the morning. I have found that it greatly increases the good results!

rileygirl~
I want to get rid of white and black heads that are just always there~nose, chin and a bit on my cheeks. Hoping to reduce pore size on nose.
I also wannna reduce appearance of wrinkles~. I believe my skin could look a lot better.
I do have 2 fairly small brown patches at the top of my forehead and my chest looks not so good.
I didn't realize this was sun damage and never really thought about until I started reading about obagi and the results that can be acheived.

I guess when I'm done with this kit I'll get the one that has no hydroquinone.

thanx~kate

Hi. The brown patches seem like hyperpigmentation so you could use Nu Derm to deal with wrinkles, pores, hyperpigmentation.

Do you think it would be a good idea to incorporate the 5% vit C eye serum also?
I have been using just a pea size dollop of RA, is this the correct amount or do I use the gm. measurement.

You can start slow if you want. When I got my nu derm I decided to go on a moderate program so I add a half a gram of Retin A which is quite a bit more than a pea. Its strange adding that much, but Im following the regime to a T. It gives me a bit of peeling and redness. I guess it depends if you can handle that.

Kate, have you used a topical C before? I honestly would not waste my money on a 5% topical C for just the eye area. You can just use the topical C that you will be using on your face. The C will help any pigmentation fade quicker, as well as usually give a nice glow to the skin and increased protection from the sun. The Retin A in the Nu Derm will help with fine lines. Deeper wrinkles may be improved, but Retin A will not make them disappear.

You don't have to use the "aggressive" protocol, but I would at least use 1/2 gram of everything. You can increase the pea size amount of Retin A that you are using slowly if you need to, but your goal should be at least 1/2 gram. Otherwise, you will be taking a long time to get any of the results and will go through the flaking/peeling for a lot longer!

Check out this website. They have a lot of great information on Obagi that can help a lot!

I just wanted to report in that I am already seeing a huge improvement in my nasolabial lines. The one that was bothering me on the right side is almost gone! This is after just 3 weeks of Obagi with a full half gram. However, I had been using a pea size of retin A for over 3 months consecutively and on and off before. I guess adding the extra really kicked it up a notch. So I highly recommend going for the half gram with Obagi!

rileygirl & amonavis ~ Thanx for your help and suggestions.
I'm usually just a lurker and never post, anyways...

Lastnight was my first go with RA.05%, and I sure have a nice red hue to my face this morn. Had been using .01% for about 5 days before I got my kit, so I had some minor flaking and that was it.
I was thinking maybe I'd alternate between .01% and .05% each night for a week or so?

I have used Jason Vit.C b4, but nothing like the obagi C. Should I use the 10% or 15%?

Id go with the 15%. you only need a couple drops for your whole face. I would try to see if you can tolerate the .05. See how it goes. It's always rough at first. If you are doing Obagi you have to expect redness and peeling, its just how it is with this system. The first few weeks aren't pretty for any of us. If you want to work your way up to using the .05 consistently that is fine, but your "out with the old" phase will take longer from what I have read. So I guess it depends if you want to get it over with, or ease your way into it.

Okay, I'm off to order some 15% C. I will also stick with the .05%. I'll use the .o1% on my neck and chest!

Good call! Also the neck area is really sensitive. You might be surprised how much the retain A can irritate your neck. Mine is just getting back to normal Laughing I only use it a couple times a week there now, since my neck isn't an issue for me.

And, Kate, I would only use that .01% on your neck and chest 2 days a week to start with. Your skin will get really dry, really quick on that area! Put a moisturizer on your neck/chest area about 20-30 minutes after the Retin A!
