I'm new to this forum, and am looking for any recommendations for skin care products. I'm 40, some wrinkles around the eyes, some sun damage (spots), normal to dry skin, and can be somewhat prone to breakouts with the wrong products. I'm looking for something along the anti-aging lines, that will hydrate. I've used Decleor, Juice Beauty, Clinique, and am presently using Caudalie. I've heard good things about Murad, but would appreciate any other recommendations! And they don't have to be natural/organic lines! Very Happy

Welcome to the forum, Miranda.

If you want to use serums and creams that are proven to fight signs of aging, I would suggest that you look for products with the active ingredients vitamin A, B, C and E.

There are a lot of quality vitamin A (retinol) creams available. A few good brands containing a decent amount of retinol are: Topix, SkinCeuticals, La Roche Posay Biomedic, Green Cream, to mention a few. Topical retinoids are shown to stimulate the production of elastin and collagen, hence erasing fine lines and wrinkles and combat sagging. Retinol cream should be used PM because it increases sun sensitivity.

There is also some research suggesting that niacinamide (vitamin B3) is helpful to maintain a young looking skin, especially in the form of proNAD, as found in the products from NIA24 and Canyon Ranch. ProNAD is known to lighten hyperpigmentation, increase the level of moisture in your skin, strengthen skin barrier, and it might combat fine lines and wrinkles. Lastly, vitamin C serums are very popular amongst many of us. Topical vitamin C (preferably mixed with vit E) is known to protect against sun damage, lighten existing sun spots and to some extent promote collagen synthesis. Vitamin C serum is supposed to be used AM, before moisturizer/sunscreen. Some good and stable vitamin C serums are: SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic (includes vit E), SkinMedica C complex (includes vit E), CellularSkinRX C + Serum. Personally, I am a big fan of vitamin C serum. It makes my skin look good and gives a healthy glow, as well as preventing further signs of aging.

I just started using Origin's Youthtopia Age Correcting Serum and it works! And well!

My lines have diminished and really smoothed out. I wanted to use the Easy Eye Solutions but the thread disappeared and it had a lot of good tips on there. Why would they remove it?

I wholeheartedly agree, and would only add Alpha Hydroxy Acids + a good microfiber cloth to this list... Oh, and for *purchasing* C Serum, I'd add Cellex C to the list!

I have very similar issues to yours. My best line of defense has been the IS Clinical line, using the Super, Proheal, Active and Hydra-cool Serums. I need a lot of hydration so I follow them at night with a touch of Skinmedica moisterizer and Dr. Hauschka's masks mixed together. I also use finacea for my light rosacea. I use Decleor products bi-weekly, Angelique and Ylang-ylang on spots where I need them.
