Can anyone offer some advice. I am really wanting to try a new foundation but i can't make my mind up between Bare escentuals or Jane Iredale, there are no samples available and i don't want to spend alot of money and it not agree with me. I am very fair skinned, sensitive skin and prone to breakouts, i also get dry very flaky skin. So could anyone recommend what i try and what shade. I would be really grateful.
many thanks

Both , Jane Iredale and Bare Escentuals have an excellent coverage and they are both using the same natural minerals. I can not say that one is any better or worse than another. In my opinion advantage of Jane Iredale is that they have more chices for light tones. If you are looking for something with yellloew undertone, consider Jane Iredale loose powder Bisque. If you are on cool side , take Jane Iredale cool sand.
From BAre Minerals, #1 Fair is the lightest one. #1.2 Fairly Light has yellow undertone.
Also if you have dry skin, I would definitely go with loose powders intead of pressed. You can always mix some loose powder into your moisturizer.

Thanks alot for the advice on the foundations. Can i just ask i am not sure if i have yellow undertones or cool all i know is that i am very pale so would the cool sand be ok. I am a bit worried that it is a powder rather than a cream it won't dry my face will it? would i need to buy a brush and do you apply it like a normal powder. Sorry for all the questions but i want to be sure before i buy.
many thanks Jody x

I've never used Bare Escentuals so I can't compare, but I've been using Jane Iredale for a year and LOVE it. I use the pressed powder in Amber (because I have fair skin with a slightly yellow undertone) and the blush in Sheer Honey and Dubonnet. I have very sensitive, oily, and acne-prone skin, and the coverage is really great. Doesn't make my skin breakout, it doesn't wear off or cake up. Highly recommended!

reviving an old topic. I use bare minerals and have done for years now. I like the way it looks on my skin. Much better for me than a liquid foundation. Over the years I have tried others but always go back to this one.

I love using their GLEE, when I am tired or washed out looking, I do a very light swipe over my face, a bit more on cheeks, and I look alive again!!! It really turns out like a first blush type of look! A go too product for me

I just have to throw in my vote for Jane Iredale... The Dream Tint is fabulous and I use the Powder Me afterwards for SPF. I never had such a smooth, flawless look with Bare Minerals and I have both.

(As usual, Tiny and DarkMoon have me curious about their products!! ) Laughing

I have been using Jane since December. I love it and my skin loves it!

i used Bare Minerals for years and years and I liked it a lot better than liquids or anything else. I just had issues when I had a zit and the bismuth in the BM would make my skin crawl.

The Baremineral ones I like are never the foundation, these are the sheer wash colors, or eye shadows. The foundation ages me IMO.

Yep, that was my feeling as well. I use their blush and it's not bad. It doesn't have the wow factor I was hoping but it's more than fine. The only thing that is tough with Ms. Iredale is the sticker shock! But my face is worth it, right? Wink

Always start with way less than you think you need and tap excess back into the container, then tap the brush handle so the bristles soak in the minerals! Very Happy

I always think it looks better on me later in the day, when it has soaked in.

MMU really does look awful if too much is applied!

I think some companies may have the video instructions online, my BE came with a DVD! It is a shame Aromaliegh went out of business that site had awesome instructions and tips on it! Very Happy

Would anybody be able to advise me on which shade to choose for the Jane Iredale pressed powder? I have light/medium complexion with yellow undertones.

Bisque! That was a perfect match and I have the same complexion you described. Very Happy I also found the setting spray was great to take away the last bit of "fuzziness" that say, Lancome doesn't give you... (p.s. in case it helps, the dual pressed powder in Landome is Ivoire for me). But I have to say the Jane Iredale is a very close second to the Lancome, at least for me in terms of a great pressed powder. And I love that I can use all natural ingredients, so for me that is a win win.

Thanks Luminosity for the quick reply! I was actually considering the Bisque so your confirmation really helps.

It's too bad EDS doesn't offer JI anymore.

eskincarestore carries Jane Iredale and has a 20% sale on right now for anyone interested.
