OK so I just bought this from bellaire industry (ultrabeautydevice com) - HS 3050. I have also just registered with EDS - been a lurker for a while, but I figured I should allow myself the option to actually interact.
So my question regards both this specific item - whether anyone else has it, how does it perform, caveats, tips, etc (i just got mine today); also more generally both ultrasound and LED therapy - especially if combined in the same unit.
I have read some of the threads on here that seem to relate - but most of them seem to address either the technology in general (which I did try to research before purchase) or specific models/ tools - baby quasar & such. What I am not quite clear on is really 'how' to use it - how long, where, what's safe, etc.
This is a hand-held device; 3MHz ultrasound, red LED - no other specs that I am aware of.
The inlay says to only use the ultrasound 10 minutes maximum with the gel. I think they also say to use it after that with a moisturizer type product to be pushed in (for how long? what parts of face neck? - not quite clear). It also says the LED can be used alone - but again - unclear on duration, location & such.
So, of course I went all out - used the LED on its own for about 30mins, then the ultrasound w/ gel 12 minutes. Not content I moved on to my Tens (BIO) microcurrent unit. Then some 30mins more of the LED alone. Then retin-a, and after a couple of hours Copper Peptides and Emu Oil w/ another 10 mins of the ultrasound. yeah, i know.
anyway, thoughts? advice? tips - any and all would be welcome.
thank you |

Welcome to EDS!
I didn't think you could use ultrasound with any oil based products?
I thought it had to be water based, and you want to keep the area very wet when you are using the ultrasound. (I misted my face constantly when I was doing mine)
What did you instructions say? But if they were anything like mine, they were woefully lacking!
Editing to add: From the LED perspective, I assume that the LED output is very weak, so you probably can't overdo that at all. |

hi bethany, and thanks.
yep - that's what i thought too - i.e. that ultrasounds and any oil-based products are a no-go.
this from #8 of the (printed) instructions:
"after the treatment, wipe off any excess gel or cream and cleanse the face. Afterwards, apply any facial cream product to the face. PLace a small amount on the forehead, the right and left cheek, and the chin. Use the Ultrasound to penetrate the cream into the skin. Penetrating the cream provides much better results than simply spreading the cream around by hand onto the skin. Penetrating allows the cream to go deep into the skin cells where it can work to the best of its abilities:
knowing that ultrasounds ARE used to deliver all kinds of actives to the skin it would seem to make sense - but ANY facial cream? I specifically asked the guy I talked to at BI about it and he said emu oil was fine to use w/ the ultrasound. But that was also the first and only time I heard of oil(based) products being used with ultrasounds. So i wonder - |

Very interesting...Boski is the ultrasound guru, so hopefully she will pop in. If not, you can find her on the 302 thread under product reviews...many people there use ultrasound with that line.

well - paging Boski. took a look at the thread u linked, she seems to own an ultrasound unit by the same manufacturer/ distributor (HS series, albeit a fancier one) - so you're probably right about her knowing more about it working with something like emu-oil and/or other oil-based products. maybe i'll try to PM for attention. |

A number of us have Bellaire units...I have the HS3040.
You might want to do a search for my name and the word "ultrasound"...I posted some instructions from Dr. Huber from 302 on how to use ultrasound, as well as a bunch of clinical studies. |
