Hello,

I have discovered that if I use products containing mica I break out in painful pimples. Does this happen to anyone else or is it just me?

Thanks!

Mica can defintely cause allergic reactions. Fortunately, there are a number of MMU companies who will leave out the mica completely.

Mica is a well known pore-clogger.

Many people stay away from it, but I beleive it is the ingredient that gives "luminosity" to many products by adding a slight shimmer.

Thanks for the replies! Why do so many companies use it then, I wonder?

Does the same apply for Titanium Dioxide? I tried using a sunscreen with it last year and I developed very painful, deep, pimples.

If your skin is sensitive mica and also titanium dioxide are known to be skin aggravators.

Some people are sensitive to mica.

Keep in mind all mica is not created equally, so you may not be able to use one brand but can use another.

May I recommend you some mica-free mineral make up brands. Fyrinnae, Cory, Dreamworldminerals (one or more of her formulas - plese check the ingredients of each formula). These have mica-free formulas. Fyrinnae's is light coverage, Cory is very heavy coverage, Dreamworld is medium.
