i was hoping someone would be able to recommend a good sunscreen for me, preferably physical (but im open to anything) |

Lancome, I am using it and it is not sticky and oily at all. |

I haven't been using it long enough to swear for sure, but I've really been liking Neem Rose Face Sunscreen 30 SPF. Pratima is an Ayurvedic skincare company, and the sunscreen's ingredients are really pure:
Ionized Water, Micronized Zinc Oxide 18.6%, Extract of Neem, Brahmi, Shatavari, Licorice, Vitamin E, Lecithin, Rose Essential Oil, Xanthan Gum.
My skin tends to get clogged as well, and so far this seems to agree with me. It's nice and light and sinks in quickly. As the name indicates, it does have a noticeable rose scent, but it actually fades pretty quickly after application if that bothers you. |

I find Jurlique Sun Lotion spf 30 is quite a light lotion which goes on easily and is well absorbed. It has never clogged my pores and the staff at EDS said I could use it over Cellcosmet Ultra Vital. It has a light herbal fragrance which I love, but the fragrance goes away quickly. |

Any chemical based sunscreen will be OK.
LRP has some pretty good ones. |

Does this sunscreen leave your face greasy or leave a white cast? |

I'm interested in this sunscreen. Have you tried any other physical sunscreens (so to hava a basis for comparison as to texture, white cast, etc). Have you tried their body sunscreen?

Haven't tried Pratima's body spf yet. To compare, I've used the Organic Pharmacy Cellular Protection SPF 18 sun cream which was much heavier feeling. I've also used Zenbiotic's Sun Protector - I didn't like that ZB doesn't have an official spf, but texture-wise, I would say the Pratima is pretty similar. |

I actually picked it up directly from Pratima in NYC, but I know that you can order from them over the phone or online from Vert in Los Angeles. I don't consistently use sunscreen, which I know is bad, but I did use this when I was on the beach for a couple of days and did not notice any tanning/burning (I tend to do the latter). . . |

Thanks! I haven't tried Zenbiotic, but other EDS members have and I understand that it's super light. It has 10% zinc oxide. Right now I'm using the Devita body sunscreen, which is 14% zinc oxide. Pratima's 18.6% zinc oxide would be a step up!
I'm in NY, so I'll stop by Pratima when it gets closer to summer and have a look. Maybe they'll let me sample it. Keys Solar RX is another option- it has 18.5% zinc oxide. The plus side for Pratima is that I wouldn't have to pay for shipping.

the face spf is definitely not a spray - just a normal pump dispenser. |

I have to vote for my new favorite facial sunscreen...the ZO Oclipse Sunscreen & Primer SPF30. No zits, and no white cast! |

I am still searching for one because the one I normally use, the SPF is not high enough for me anymore according to my dermo Dr. He said it has to be SPF 50 and up now.
I've read very good things from doctors about this line. http://www.skinstore.com/store/category.asp?CatID=1002
I've rarely seen anyone purchase and rave about TotalBlock. I just don't understand why it is not so popular. Doctors say that it is good for acne sufferers. |

skincare - id read about this line....and i was into getting it a while back. I emailed the company of the product to ask for samples but they werent much help and i found them to be bit rude....they just cudnt be assed to because i was in NZ.
i have read mixed reveiws about this product. Some people say this is really great....and some said it broke them out and leaves that dreaded whitecast. They have a tinted one as well without the chemicals for acne skin...so i was wanting to try it but i dont want to buy a full sized one if its not gonna be suitable for me |

We should stay in touch. I assume that you have the same problem as myself? If there is a way I can get you samples, I will get it for you. |

thanks. its not that i have acne problem but a product that wont add to clogging pores is great. What i do want is a SS that is not chemical based but physical. I know physical tends to leave a whitecast but there are some few that good and dont do that. Currently m using DDF Organic sunblock spf 30+ but i am looking for a high one to block darkening of my hyperpigmentation and any tanning at all. Being in NZ doesnt help much cause the sun rays are much harsher here due to that ozone hole prob. |

Hi Skincare,
The TotalBlock has dimethicone in it, which might be why some people break out from it. I've only tried their SPF lip balm, and it has a very peachy color to it... Can't speak to the lotions though.
I'm also very interested in the Pratima (though I just stocked up on Devita!), so I'll be interested to hear how you ladies continue to like it! |

Simran,
If you're in NZ, you probably have easier access to Megan Gale sunblock, which is all zinc. I'm interested in trying it but can't find it here in the US yet. I've heard it's very protective though (it's mentioned over on this thread: http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?p=426192#426192). If you get to try it, do let us know about it! |
