I would like to first explain a little of my skin history.
I have had eczema for my whole life, sometimes it itched and bleed for days (all over) and lately I have little flairups due to my steroid creme. I am now wanting perfect facial skin and afford to do so. however, I do want to go organically. I feel as though my skin will have less of a transitioning period.
I have the 1.5 and the 2.5 Dermaroller for my face and body and love the results. It totally works for cellulite on my tush and on the back of my thighs. As for my face, I have been obsessing about my chicken pox scars. So I rolled them and that was fine. It started to work on my scars until.....
Well, I ended up getting an IUD put in and broke out so badly (cystic flair ups). I put the roller aside and picked up PROACTIVE! Yes, I was that desperate. After 5 months of agonizing pain from my IUD I decided to take it out. So now, I have just let my face heal and want to get my skin perfect. within one week, all my pimples have seized!
However, now I have horrible pink/brown acne scars, chicken pox scars and hyper pigmentation on my face. Not to mention, I am still battling my milia around my eye and cheek bone area.
So, I want to roll again and I have made my own Vit C serum from this website. I have purchased Emu Oil and want to go back to my organic skincare line with a rose cleanser (Tara Skin Spa) and Cetaphyl face lotion.
What do you guys suggest for me?
Profile: I am 27 years old, half Asian and half czech, with tanned skin (I need to get into the tanning bed....I know, I know), that can break out in pimples, however my lips and other parts of my face can get dry and I have eczema. I have enlarged pores on my checks and blackheads on my nose.
Thank you so much for your input on my regime. |

Hello ~
I am 52 and hope that I can be of some help. I have found that simpler really is better when dealing with skin with issues. I have rosacea, but not eczema. I do know that steroid creams are not recommended for long - term use on the face. A good guideline is to use steroids on the face no more than seven days in a row.
I would immediately discontinue the derma - roller on your face.
Wash with a simple cleanser, the fewer ingredients the better and follow with a simple cream that contains sunscreen during the day ~ if your facial skin can handle sunscreen.
Avene makes great products for sensitive skin.
It sounds like your skin needs a break and time to heal.
I have been treated in my life by a few great dermatologists. So, I will impart their advice.
Wash with Cetaphil Bar Cleanser or Olay for sensitive skin or an Avene cleanser (something gentle). Try to wash twice a day. Some skin can only take a once a day cleansing. That is okay!
Moisturize where needed with Avene Cicalfate or Olay for Sensitive Skin.
Keep it simple and give your skin barrier time to heal and function properly.
See a dermatologist, if at all possible. |

This is great! I am using Cetyphil cleanser in a pump, I feel like it is more sanitary and don't need to use my steroid creme more than one MAYBE a month. This is great advice and I believe that i am going to go to a lighter regime than the intense one I have been implementing. My skin is just going crazy in this winter weather.
As for my skin currently, I have no inflamed pimples but I do have bumps that could turn into pimples right now and don't know what I should do about getting rid of them. They are located on my cheeks and chin. Does this mean digestive? Or maybe somethign in my diet is causing this.
It is like blocked pores that want to get popped but I am scared to do that for I am going to cause even more hyperpigmentation! I just want to get it right this time. |

Hi. You might want to go to a dermatologist just to rule out something that needs to be treated and to deal with the blocked pores ...I wouldn't pop them as you may do real damage. I agree that a very simple and non invasive routine would be best. I had good results with cetaphil, and jurlique day cream and sun lotion. very basic and gentle. really helped with my overly irritated and dried out skin. I have some Remergent cleanser and it is also very pure, non fragrant and ph balanced. good luck. Harriet |
