Greetings,
My current skincare regime contains 10% glycolic acid. As this is an exfoliator, I am hoping someone may be able to help me with an unanswered question? I love to apply a self tanning product on my face that I love! I have recently started a skincare line that contains 10% glycolic acid. Can I apply my self tanner as well as using this range? Will an exfoliator defeat the purpose of apply a self tanner to the face (which you want to last as long as possible)?
I have done many searches on this to no effect!
Any ideas my friends???? |

There is no hard and fast rule on this one. It will really depend on the product and your skin. Some glycolic products can be formulated with 10% and not cause any peeling on many people, but there will be a few who do have some flakiness. If it does cause your skin to flake then your tan will be affected. The best I can suggest is to use the products for a couple of weeks and if you have no flaking at all then you may be ok to apply the tanning product. |

Thanks Bushy. I have actually been avoiding using my regular skincare, which as mentioned is 10% glycolic, as I was worried about the affect on my face self tanner? Streaking...patchiness..So... every three days or so I have been applying my self tanner. Then start my skincare with glycolic, But my skin feels dehydrated by then? Ooooh..any suggestions... |

Do you really need a tan on your face? Why not consider one of the many sunscreens with a tint such as ZO. Looks very natural and then you can happily use your glycolic products. |

Since glycolic acid does shed dead skin cells I suggest a wash instead of a lotion before applying the tan. Use the glycolic acid serum at night and normal moisturizer under the tanning cream in the day. |

I have been using glycolic, etc for a few years on my face along with self tanners. I have never had any bad reactions, but I find it very difficult to find a self tanner that will give me much color on my face. |
