Hi i have slight acne marks on my cheek coz i developed loads of spots from using too much cream. Now im left with loads of small like dots on my face, they look like small acne scars.

Whats the best treatment to smooth out my skin and reduce these marks.

Ive been thinking about microdermabrasion and Retin - A whats your take on these.

I grew up with bad acne and was stuck with little acne scars and purple/pink spots all over my cheeks. I have tried retin-a and micro-dermabrasion. What they do is quickly remove (harshly I might add) the surface cells of your skin, which will make your pores and scars appear smaller, but the best way is to tackle it internally and with the intention to quicken cell production. What the two options you mentioned don't do is help produce healthy new cells quickly.
javascript:emoticon('Arrow') This is what I suggest: Definitely a healthy diet to feed the new cell growth faster, complete with your omega's and some kind of good spirulina/seaweed supp. Very important. Next is exercise, this is no joke, this will promote circulation which gets blood flow faster to through the skin which carries the nutrients for cell growth.
Topically: stimulation by face massage and tapotement (tapping/slapping).
Repechage has a great javascript:emoticon('Razz')skin renewal product called "rapidex" which has natural mild acids and seaweed which has nutrients which is wonderfully effective. This has totally helped me, even if you have oily skin, moisture (which is different from oil) is also important, good luck! javascript:emoticon('Very Happy')with rapidex and cream my skin is way better, it will take a couple months or a year, but you can clear it up.

Vitamin C serum worked for me and trust me, before I was a member of EDS, I struggled a lot and discovered Vivier. That help deal with my acne scars but not acne. The good thing about Vivier, it does not cause acne, but other drug store and department store brands couldn't do a thing for my acne. I went to the doctor for that and found EDS Very Happy

I really swear on Vivier vitamin C. Maybe using Juice Beauty Green Apple peel would help also, because it help even out your complexion.

Rapidex is made by repechage, a company on the east coast I order from. Everything is seaweed based and the active ingredients are usually naturally based, I love them, nothing has irritated my skin or my clients, ever. This stuff refines the texture of your skin without any hard core chemicals. I trust them implicitly. rapidex is supposed to help fine lines and age spots, but I have found that it also is great with scarring and those itty-bitty pimply bumps we all get. It comes in a treatment box of 14, use them every night until its gone or until you are satisfied. Every morning you wake up your skin will look different. Try it with one of the supplimemts and you won't believe now fast it will work.

Hydroquinone and some form of retinoid. That's the best and fastest way to get rid of red marks. I've dealt with them forever and have tried everything.

Thanks Nadjazz and Abbeyrose,
I will definitely look into this product. I'm currently using Obagi Nuderm and I'm very happy how it has handled my pigmentation issues but I still have these red "dots" that won't go away. Maybe this could help? Thanks!

Be very careful with hydroquinone, high percentages of the product are link to high percentages of mercury in the body. I think the safe % is like 6%. Study up on it before you use it. I have used products with hydroquinone and still prefer the rapidex, but you'll have to find out for yourself.

I don't think HQ that you buy over the counter will pose any problems (unless you're one of those who gets rebound pigmentation from it...which is why you should test a small amount in an inconspicuous place first). Plus, you should only use HQ for a month, then stop completely. If you want to use it again, wait another month, and so on.

The HQ that I use is in the Obagi Clear and is 4% which I feel ok using while I'm doing the Nuderm regimen. However, I'd like to check into other products for the maintenance phase -- Rapidex being one of them. I, too, think it's important to give your skin a break from the HQ.

My latest venture is to do my at home TCA peels! I have exhausted all other types of ways to deal with my post acne scars. They are slowing going away, but i want to give them a little boost and see if the TCA will help!

Look into it for a possible fix!

Hi Miss Tina,
Have you tried a peel yet? Are you planning on doing your entire face or just where the scars are? Let us know how it goes!

Oh man did I ever! I ended up doing my TCA peel on thursday. I need to get the consistancy with the peel accross my skin down.

As far as progress goes. I am healing and looking better than I have since Friday. I think that my healing is coming along quite nicely and fast! Faster than expected, but I have been babying my skin and playing it strictly by the rules. I have pictures of my peel and everyday progress afterwards. I need to post them but I am not sure the quicket and most innogrative way how!

I think that I am going to start a new Thread or just extend my old one because that one I have from the start. It is nice seeing my face progress like this! You easily forget what your skin use to look like and you keep thinking about the problems that you have now. So I am healing and just waiting for my little face to look a little more normal!

BTW...my layers went as such:
8% under eyes
20% Layer 1
20% Layer 2 (waited 5 minutes from L1)
25% Layer 3 (on problem areas)

I have pictures after I applied each layer and you will see why I made the decisions I did in boosting up the last layer on my problem spots.
