I have this awesome beauty tip.I am for the natural look since I am over 50 and dont want to make the classic older woman mistake of "red lipstick". You take an ordinary tube of chapstick and put it on your lips. Then you lightly dig with a small stick a small amount of chapstick and put on your palette, then take your favorite or I like a natural nude lipstick or one with a little color you can experiment.then mix the chapstick with the lipstick and then apply to your lips with brush or finger. This gives your lips a natural healthy glow, yet not glossy. It looks very natural and pretty yet it doesnt really look like you are wearing lipstick.

Leave it to Lucy Luc to come through with something practical. Just regular - plain Chapstick brand????
I've avoided petrolium based products since going through the L2K craze but maybe I'll give this a try Wink

Thanks Lucyluc! Good tip! And good way to use up the bottoms of lipsticks too.

Actually, if you aren't happy with petroleum products, you could use any non-petroleum based lip balm in the same way. Hmmm...I have some manuka honey lip balm sitting neglected on my vanity table...

Good tip, so basically stay with your natural lip color and you're good to go. Clinique's Black Honey is pretty good.

once I have the right color I mix up a larger batch and put in empty lip gloss pot so I have a readymade neutral lip color all the time and dont have to keep mixing,I really love this because my lips have a healthy glow but I dont look like I am wearing lipstick.I do however lightly line my lips with a neutral lip liner to give a little definition to the lips.

I've been doing this for quite a while actually. I'll moisten my lips with chapstick. Then use a brush to apply a coloured lipstick. Not nude for me. I tend to look sickly in nude or brown lipsticks. Pinks and reds are much more suitable. Sometimes purple. But I use such a small amount to give myself a natural look. I really love Jane Iredale's cream blush that can also be used on lips. It really does give me a natural colour.

... I didn't know there was any other way to apply lipstick! Without a base color goes on too thickly, with less control, and tends to dry your lips out badly. I always do lip balm first and then smooth on color, and add some additional lip balm on top if need be. It DOES have a tendency to bleed around your mouth a bit more if you deal with wrinkles in that area but overall it's a great look!

A red color would be lighter if mixed with chapstick.....you actually can control it by the amount of color/chapstick ratio.I have tons of glosses, lipsticks, lip plumpers but I am finding I actually look the best in the chapstick/lipstick combo.

What a fabulous idea! All my old lippies and chapsticks I can now use! I also have read that this works well with natural mineral products. Dip you chapstick into a mineral foundation for a slight tint!

I do agree with Lucy Luc because less is better for the lips. Thanks! Smile

I also put some moisturizer on my lips too esp. in winter days here. It keeps the lips from chapping and cracking due to cold weather.

There are a lot of tinted balms and very light lipsticks out there. Mixing chapstick with lipstick is too much work.

In this economy, I am definitely not above mixing me up some chapstick/lipstick combo!

hmmm...so are you saying that wearing a bright lipstick..red, or any other brighter color..actually physically ages us more ..or just that it's out of style so gives away our age in that way....
cause i like bright colored lipstick..although not red...I always have...I feel it brightens my face...
