HELP!!! I recently noticed some lines or laugh lines (I think that's what it's called) around my mouth and down the side of my chin. I lost a lot of weight this 1/2 a yr so I'm not sure if that's the reason why. Is there any way to get rid of those lines or tone that area? Is it permanent? Thanks! |

I recommend you read Loulou's "book". She has a regime of facial exercises that only take a few minutes a day to perform. Check out the Facial Exercises thread and the Ageless if you dare threads. Yep, those exercises will help you to tone the muscles of your face up. They should be able to improve the situation. It might also help to take some supplements that stimulate collagen production. Google for information on Biosil. Those are worth considering before reaching for the fillers. |

I know I sound like a broken record, but Retin A and Vitamin C serum will work to plump up the lines through collagen production. |

hi, i got these around 3 years ago, and I found that using epidermx helped to minimise these. people (family) commented on these NL (nasolabial) lines when they appeared, but now they are no longer visible...i only have very slight creases on either side of my nose
maybe give it a try for a month, using epidermx once in the evening and see if that helps.. |

m1rox, I guess some facial exercise to lift the cheeks up? ok... I don't have loulou's exercise but I got some for free online from a skin care centre...not sure if it's good enough. I'm taking Omega 3 right now but don't really see any results yet.
amonavis, I tried CellularSkinRx Vit C and was broken out around the chin area. I'm still recovering from it now. Guess it'll be awhile before I tried something else. As for Retin A, I'm considering using Retinyl Palmitate first and see cuz I'm afraid going straight to the Retin A is too harsh for my skin as I'm quite sensitive.
mowgli, can u elaborate more on the Epidermx? What exactly is it and where can I get it?
Thank you so~ much ladies! I know I can always find help here |

If you purchase the online version of Loulou's book, it's inexpensive. But if you would like a "preview", you can email her through her profile on the Facial exercises thread and she would email you a few exercises to try out. Honestly, you can feel the muscles of the face being more toned up when you do the exercises.
If you would like to try a less harsh version of retinoids, the Skinmedica retinol complex seems quite user friendly as well as being reported to deliver some results.
But in your case, it's not primarily a skin problem. The weight loss has resulted in loss of fat around your cheeks. If you exercise the muscles, you may have a chance to firm up the muscles so that they can at least partially fill up the gap left by the fat.
Omega 3 doesn't really help to build collagen. It can improve skin but not through the collagen-building route. |

You can use firming and lifting serum or cream and do some massage upwards. |

Thanks for the tip on how to try a few exercises. I would like to give it a try to see how I like it. |

I would highly recommend that you think about a facial exercise program. The Ageless If You Dare download is only about 10 dollars for the whole thing! So, for less than the cost of a drugstore lipstick, you can try out a program that lots of people here have raved about. Pretty good deal, eh?
(Full disclosure: I have only downloaded it recently and haven't had enough time to see results personally.) |

m1rox & flitcraft, I guess facial exercise is the way to go and permanent... but I know myself, I'll be too lazy and tired after work to spend 20mins a night to do them. haha But I will certainly check them out first.
Yiying, any specific serum u suggested? I break out easily especially around the chin area so I'm afraid to apply too much stuff there... sigh
And I guess Retinol does help the creases around the mouth right? |

Star, to echo everyone else here: facial exercise, retin-a, vitamin c (if one brand caused you problems, you can make your own that is purer and cheaper!), sunscreen and moisturizer! Good protein intake and lots of water!!! |

Stardusty: the exercises only take about 5 to 10 mins to do (faster once you can memorize them). They require little effort (like smiling or blinking). You can do them while sitting at the computer waiting for your pages to load up.
Retinol can help the creases to some extent but in your case you also need to tighten up all the deeper tissues, not just treat the skin. If your skin is sensitive, Skinmedica retinol complex is quite gentle, also PSF retinol. These 2 are obtainable from EDS. If you live in Europe, you can get Avene Eluage cream or gel. These contain hyaluronic acid to help further in plumping up the nasolabial lines. You can google the Avene websites for more info on them. If you are not in Europe or you can't find them in your country, you can order fromwww.tubotica.com orwww.leguidesante.com orwww.frenchcosmeticsforless.com, all of which ship internationally. |

Stardusty it won't even take 10 minutes to do the exercises and that's incorporating the massage into it. And I think the massage is supposed to help enormously. I too have only just started the program. |

Yes, it will take less time than reading and replying to the posts on EDS! I could feel immediate toning effects but then I haven't had major weight loss. It's worth trying and only a very small investment of money and time. By the way, Loulou did have a homemade video she emailed to those who bought the book. I haven't looked at it yet, because I was happy with the instructions in the book. But it might help those starting out if you're not sure about how to do the exercises. |

That's happened to me as well. I've recently lost lots of weight and I've noticed fine lines. I've heard that massaging really works. I've been using the Tanda red light to stimulate collagen. I haven't been able to notice anything so far but I'm still hoping and waiting to see. |
