I really love my Kindle electronic reader but I've decided to sell it. I'd like to be upfront and honest, I'm selling my Kindle 1 so I can upgrade to the new version.
There's nothing wrong with the Kindle I have, I've kept it in the protective case at all times and it's spent most of it's life on my bedside table. There are no scratches on the screen and no blemishes on it at all. It operates perfectly and I've never had any complaints. I am hoping to upgrade for 2 reasons:
1. is a longer battery life even though my current Kindle has a pretty impressive battery life now and
2. I just got a Google phone and they're talking about the possibility of a sync between some smart phones and the Kindle 2
I'm asking $285 for it, I did the math and with taxes it's more than $100 off what it would be new. When I bought it, it was $399. I've compared my price to the going price on Ebay for a used one in perfect condition. I've got some books on it and I will do my best to see if I can put them on an SD card so I can pass them on to the new owner (if he or she wants them). I think this is possible but I will have to unregister it from my Amazon account before I can see if this works.
This would make a good gift for a student and I would like to see it go to someone who enjoys reading as much as I do. Please PM me with any questions or if you're interested. Thanks for reading my long post! |

At the risk of sounding like a complete ignoramus, what the heck is a Kindle Electronic Reader... |

That was my reaction, too, when I first heard the name!
It's a portable electronic gadget upon which books are stored. They can then be read via the viewscreen, which does look surprisingly like a book page. Handy for taking with you whilst travelling.
Whilst I would love one, they're still very expensive (although I think they're coming down in price). Also, certainly here in the UK, electronic book file prices are outrageous and there is a rather limited selection. The US and Canada have a much better, much cheaper choice. Plus, as the gadget was designed with them in mind, they can download more easily - whereas it is much more complicated to do in the UK.
Hopefully, we'll catch up here eventually. And when we do, I'll definitely buy one! |

Thanks for the bump littlecandy!
The books download on the Kindle through a cell phone type connection. The Kindle comes with a USB cable though and I'd be curious to see if you can't download the books through the hardline connection in countries where the cell service isn't available. I'd be hesitant to sell it to anyone who couldn't enjoy it!
The liquid paper is nice, it's really easy on the eyes so it's comfortable to read for long periods of time as opposed to a computer screen that's backlit. My favorite features are the instant downloads and book samples. You can read the first chapter of any book for free which has saved me tons of money! The instant book downloading is perfect too. DH hates book stores and I used to feel so rushed. Now I just sit in my pajamas and browse Amazon for hours and I can have any book I want instantly! |
