I have been using Neostrata AHA 10% for the past few months to exfoliate and deal with breakouts. I noticed that my skin looks more even and the dark spots have been reduced. The only down side is that I find that it migrates towards my eyes at night and makes them puffy.

You might want to try bare minerals. It works amazingly on my skin. I've noticed more even skin tone and texture after just a week of using it.

I've also found that AHA is very helpfull is fading spots after pimples. I have not tried Neostrata but have used Paula's Choice AHA in the past.

I was always afraid to even try AHA because my skin is very sensitive. How do you apply it before or after moisturiser? Do you use any moisturiser? Also do you have any irritations after use?

I only use it and nothing else every few days. You can do that and also use the lowest percent they offer. I am not sure what it is. You can also do a patch test on the inner elbow and wait 24hours for redness. I dont really have too much irritation. Just use it every so often.

Hi,

I too have found that AHA products help with fine lines and spots. When I get a breakout I dab a little on and it helps with that too. My skin is ultra sensitive and prone to breaking out.

I've read that a good sunscreen is a must when using an AHA product because it makes the skin more sensitive to the sun. Even though you might use the AHA at night, you should use a sunscreen during the day to protect the "new" skin.

This is a very important point!

And please keep in mind that overusing acids of any kind can cause post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH)...creating even more spots.
