I have sensitive skin with mild rosecea skin symptoms at times. I have been using different foundations, including BareMinerals, Laurer Mercier, Philosophy and NARS. When it's the humid summer or extremely cold dry winter, it's still inevitable for me to have little bumps appearing after wearing foundation during the day. I'd like to know if primer would be a good way to protect my sensitive skin? If so, any product suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you! |

Hi Yvonne, welcome to the forum! I have mild roseacea as well and have been testing CoverFX Skinprep FX Treatment & Priming Serum under my foundation. So far, I really, really like it! It totally reduces any redness or inflammation virtually the moment it is applied, as well as smooth out my pores and provide a lovely matte finish.
Its easy to apply before your foundation and settles nicely into your skin right away. Here is some extra info about it. I don't know where you live, but you can buy it at Sephora in the US & Canada. For my Canadian friends, you can also buy it at Shoppers and certain Bay locations.
Cover FX Skinprep FX Treatment and Priming Serum - $45.00 1 oz bottle
What it is:
A nourishing treatment and priming serum for the face.
What it is formulated to do:
Skinprep FX perfects the skin's texture for optimal foundation coverage. The formula helps to facilitate foundation, blending, coverage and wear.
What else you need to know:
Skinprep FX will reduce skin inflammation and is tolerated by the most sensitive skin. It is oil-free, fragrance free, and will not clog pores.
Active Ingredients:
-Vitamin F is an omega-3 fatty acid used to treat dry, atopic skin.
-Vitamin A is an established anti-wrinkle active.
-Vitamin C (magnesium ascorbyl phosphate) increases natural collagen formation by cells, resulting in more plump, youthful looking skin.
-Vitamin E is the antioxidant workhorse of cosmeceuticals.
-Bisabolol is a natural anti-inflammatory agent derived from the chamomile plant to reduce redness and inflammation.
-Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally found skin humectant. Hyaluronic acid captures 1000 times its weight in water to provide ultimate skin hydration.
-Squalene, derived from Mediterranean olives, is a pure emollient which nourishes and hydrates the skin. Squalene improves skin elasticity and softens skin texture.
-Matrikines, small peptides, that serve as messengers that regulate the sequence of events required for skin repair and wound healing.
Research Results:
In general, clinical studies show an excellent anti-wrinkle efficacy after two months of twice daily application. A very significant decrease in depth (-44%) and quantity of wrinkles was observed, giving rise to smoother skin (-14% roughness) and skin firmness (-16%) which all reflected in an improvement in skin tone (+15%). 3% Matrixyl 3000, randomized application twice daily, 25 panelists, two months.
Now I have to say that I am particularly impressed that this primer has 3% Matrixyl 3000 in it. This is by far my favorite anti-aging peptide and one that is quite effective. In addition to all the other great actives in this serum, you really get a lot of bang for your buck with this primer as it does so many wonderful things for sensitive skin. If you can, go to Sephora and ask for a sample, or have them apply it to your face and wear it for a day to see how well you tolerate it under your foundation and if the bumps subside.
