Greetings from the Lower Sonoran Desert of Arizona.
I started this thread to address the specific skin care issues and solutions resulting from hot, dry, and dusty desert living conditions.
When I lived in the Seattle area my skin was hydrated and plumped all the time. After moving to AZ I could feel the moisture escaping from my skin
Staying hydrated and out of the sun and using a good sunscreen are important but what to do when it is over 110F for over a week and all you can do is hope the air conditioning doesn't go out?

I know what you mean about the difference between Seattle and Arizona. When I go to Arizona for spring training, I bring Avene Soothing Moisture Mask with me and use it nightly. You slather it on and leave it for maybe twenty minutes, then tissue off what hasn't sunk in. I wouldn't really call it a mask as much as a bland, non-irritating moisturizer. It helped my skin to cope with the mummifying desert air in the Southwest.
Also, I had to drink a lot more in Arizona than I usually do in Seattle. Good luck and enjoy your new hometown. You're missing another winter day of dreariness here. |
