I find myself continually search thru threads trying to remember which one and page others have posted websites that they order their DIY goodies from. So I decided to start a list for everyone.
If you have additional sites please post. If I only buy one thing from a site I put what it was.

I can't post links, but love this one... ingredientstodiefor dot com. They have great basic ready made products too (cleansers, hand and body lotions) that are bargain priced. They can also be used as a base for actives.

I'm looking at essential wholesale now... Which products have you tried? What did you like?

Hi Nimue,

Honestly, I'm a little bit addicted to Essential Wholesale's samples -- the only thing that stops me is expensive shipping since they only use UPS. Smile

I mostly buy from their Bulk Cosmetics (the premade stuff) since I'm not fully into DIY yet. I get my Rosehip Seed Oil and Tamanu from them (the samples are 1 oz. size). I like their Supreme Facial Serum as well as the Vit C, though I can't say I've noticed outstanding results from it... Having it around at least for the antioxidants seems good though. I just ordered their Equalizer Facial Serum but haven't tried it yet. My husband has very dry skin, and he's newly ga-ga for their Rosehip & Hibiscus Facial Creme.

Their lotions are quite nice. My favorite is the Jojoba, which is quite thick, and the Olive Lotion is a new house staple, though I find it takes a little extra to rub in. The Olive Creme is a little greasy but moisturizing -- love the Olive Butter though. I am just trying some of their hair conditioners too...

Still looking for a toner I really like. The Vit C was fine but I didn't store it properly and it oxidized on me. Razz I had a sample of Suki toner that I really loved and would like to find it for less than $30 for 4 oz. Their salt scrubs (body) weren't anything special to my mind though. I'm newly in love with PSF pumpkin masque so I might try EW's version soon...

Mostly, I just like being able to try yummy, new, mostly natural items for not a lot of money. I'd be interested to hear if you try anything!

Here are a couple for the aussies.
www.createyourown.greenmudonline.com
www.newdirections.com.au

I have ordered from new directions, but not create your own. From the look of their products, they buy from skinactives and resell. The have a limited range of actives but they include copper peptides, dermagen and natural active peptides.

I just wanted to add one more site:

http://www.beyond-a-century.com/ - coconut endosperm (cococin) and chrysin powder.

BAC is the only place besides SAS where I know to get chrysin in bulk powder and coconut endosperm (under trade name Cococin). I have ordered from them. They are much cheaper than SAS.

How expensive is the shipping?

I'm thinking of getting one of their cleansers (cream cleanser with no detergents) and also the vitamin C serum in bulk that I can use as a hands/body moisturizer and possibly formulate with Smile

Hi Nimue,

S/H isn't really that bad, it's just that they use only UPS Ground (probably because of the normal size of their orders). For me at least it's a min. of $9-10 to get it here to the East Coast(ish). That's why I try and wait till I have a larger order (though of course then the s/h goes up! Rolling Eyes )

My husband so loved the sample of the Rosehip Facial Creme that he demanded (nicely) that we place another order already, so I've got a new toner coming along with a sample of their pumpkin peel. I'm also getting a couple new-to-me oils that I've read about here (coconut and avocado) -- their 1 oz. samples are only like $3, which seems pretty reasonable to me.

If you do get the Vit C and start formulating with it, I'd love to know what you do. I haven't jumped on the DIY wagon yet, but I do have half a bottle of Vit C serum still in the fridge... And I'd love to know your thoughts on their cleansers; I have so many to use up though that I couldn't justify a new one. Darn economy! Laughing

I've been in an ordering mood the last few days, I ordered from essential wholesale. I ordered 2 facial cleansers- the green tea and the jojoba. Both of them have no detergents (not even coco betaine). I also ordered a clarifying conditioner. They're so inexpensive that I may have to give up on my whole DIY cleanser thing Very Happy

My only concern is that they don't come in a jar but come in a pump bottle so I could actually use them and not have to worry about transferring them into new containers. I ordered 16 oz sizes for all 3. (Total, counting shipping, was under 40$!)

I just placed an order from Texas Natural Supply and was blown away by the prices. I had checked all the above listed sites, most of my local pharmacies, and all TWO of the local health stores looking for ingredients to make my own C serum. TNS blew their prices away. Also, when I called with some questions the owner answered the phone she was very knowledgeable and patient. They have teas, clays, EOs, actives, even oral supplements and all the products are all natural(so there's no propylene glycol available) and made as "greenly" as possible. The shipping was a little steep since they use only UPS but still you save enough on your products to make up the difference.

Pachouli and averygsmom thank you for that. They do have great prices on some of the actives. l-asorbic acid is way cheaper than other sites.

Still more raves for Texas Natural supply, you can call and they will help you with formulation questions and I received an email that my shipment will be here on Monday so the shipping is superfast too! Yes the difference in the price of LAA compared to other sites is amazing. The only downside is they are not carrying ferulic acid, yet. But she said she would work on getting some to sell online! JUst a great shopping experience!

You guys are good. I thought I'd found every do-it-yourself skin care website out there, but there are definitely a few you clued me into, so thanks.

I'm wondering, besides Skin Actives, is there a place to purchase Dermagen and Matrixyl that ARE NOT in a glycerine base?

BTW, I blog about DIY skin care occasionally. Come visit if you're interested. girlpaint-dot-com
