I've been stripping my hair colour with harsh shampoos and it's resulted in a sore, irritated scalp. Does anyone have any remedies?! Natural is preffered... |

Rub Organic Jojoba oil into your scalp, cover and wear over night, shampoo out. Extra Virgin Organic coconut oil works too.
Get a SLS free non drying shampoo. I really like John Masters Zinc shampoo.
Also, maybe its time to switch to vegatable dye. Aveda salons offers it.
Be nice to your scalp, its trying to tell you something! |

Ditto on Vonstella! I sleep in the Jojoba oil on my scalp at least once a week! Great for the scalp and hair! |

AMInthemorning:
That sounds like the time in beauty school I tried from going from auburn to platinum in one day. Ojon (available at QVC) is pricey but all natural they say its from an "ancient native secret from the remote tropical forests of Central America." and it will fix your scalp and nourish your hair, which i am sure has taken a beating as well.
A cheaper but less luxurious option is to head to your local beauty supply store (like Sally's) and buy some good old fashioned Queen Helene cholesterol, dampen hair, massage it into the scalp and put a shower cap on. then take your hair dyer on warm and and heat it up a little, leave it on for about 30 minutes and rinse. It'll be good for your hair too, thats what a lot hair dressers recommend to clients who have frequent relaxers and it'll cost ya less than 5 bucks. |

Try Googling "Recipes for irritated scalp using natural oils"(or something similar) I just did and got a ton of hits. Let us know if you find anything good! |

I dont see why TTO would irritate it if you are mixing it with a carrier oil but if you think it would just leave it out of the mix.
Im not sure why you are having trouble finding stuff online (I found a lot when I googled it), I know that there maybe useless info you have to filter out but that is what the rest of us have to do too. Use a different browser? Maybe you could go to a bookstore or the library to find what you are specifically looking for. |

Polysorbate 80?
http://www.todieforsoap.com/hairgrowth.htm
Polysorbate 80 has been researched as one of the only emulsifiers that is strong enough to remove sebum that builds up in the hair follicles causing the follicle to be choked off. When the hair falls out, the new hair can't break through the barrier. This excessive sebum also contributes to seborrhea dermatitis.
http://www.thesynergy.com/supplies/emulsifiers.htm#Polysorbate%2080
Regular use of Polysorbate 80 may result in healthier, more beautiful hair. Use before shampooing. Simply rub into the scalp at least three times weekly, leave on for 10 minutes then shampoo as usual. Polysorbate 80 does not lather. Polysorbate 80 is highly viscose and water soluble. |
