I have almost completed the 18 weeks on nu-derm. I had noticed a dramatic positive effect few weeks after starting - skin was very clear, glowing etc. But somehow down the line the effect became less prominent. My face is not as clear as it was before 6 weeks, some of the hyperpigmentation patches are showing again (though very light - but showing indeed). Had anyone experienced something similar? I haven't done anything different and wondering what has gone wrong!

bee, I am wondering if you maybe have really deep pigmentation that is still being brought up? Some people need 24 weeks instead of the 18 for the pigmentation to be completely gone.

Do you use a topical C with the Nu Derm regimen? I know I had the best results when I used the skinceuticals C, E, Ferulic along with the Nu Derm. When I finished my last cycle end of December, I had something similar happen where it looked like I had some lighter freckles popping up towards the end of the cycle, and I had been switching around the C's.

Thanks Rileygirl for your respnse. Actually, no. I didn't have very deep pigmentations only small patches on my cheeks. And in 4 weeks after starting it was almost gone. But looks like for last 2 weeks or so, it is coming back again and the skin is loosing the nice texture and glow. So I am wondering what am i doing wrong.
Yeah I am planning to introduce the obagi c cerum once I go on maintenance. Interesting point on 24 weeks though..may be I should continue and finish 24 weeks? Is there a side effect of continuing it longer than usual?

The same thing kind of happened to me. The first 5 or 6 weeks I looked red some days and other days I had a healthy glow. Then after that time, I stopped peeling, and became even more red and irritated. I kept going for a total of 10 weeks but finally I gave up. I was not seeing any positive changes at that time. Maybe some work was being done, but Ill I saw was redness, irritation, and since I have decent skin to begin with, it wasn't worth it with me to be red for no reason. I think this system is best for those with more serious issues like Melasma and lots of freckles. I was just looking for perfection and unfortunately I didn't find it with Obagi.

amonavis, you are definitely correct. I Never recommend Nu Derm to someone who has good skin. It is a harsh system and for younger people and people with good skin to begin with, they don't need that harsh of a system. It is mainly for someone with sun damage, hyperpigmentation issues, etc.

Bee, no side effects from continuing on 24 weeks that I am aware of. But, I would definitely add a C serum in. I personally don't like the Obagi C, and I do find that the C serums are very personal, as well as a lot of trial and error to see which one works for you (like sunscreens!). Keep us posted on what you do and how it is going!

why dont you like the Obagi C serums rileygirl? Is it the propylene glycol in them? I find it makes me peel for some reason.

Amonavis, I don't care for the Obagi 20% C as this leaves a film on my face. I don't know how else to explain that one, but there was this dry film on my face after using it. The C-RX, well I used the amount it said on the bottle, 1/2 dropper, and that was so incredibly greasy on my skin. It took forever to sink in and that was massaging in for at least 1 minute. After if finally soaked in, it left my skin tacky feeling! (I did read that you only used 3-4 gtts, so that is probably why I have the greasy feeling and you do not!)

Hehe. Yeah its true I don't use that much because it causes redness and peeling! I have a feeling it is the high concentration of propylene glycol which is an irritant, or perhaps the HQ. Or it could just be the low PH balance. I am hoping skinceuticals CEF will be more calming, as I hear they use it on burned skin in some medical centers.

The reason I only use a few drops is because at the derm office where i bought it, the nurse told me that a couple drops is enough. But I did read on the package that one is supposed to use a half dropper, so you are doing it right and I'm probably not using enough Very Happy

I actually was thinking it may be a marketing ploy just to get one to go through the bottle quicker! But, actually, I have a feeling you probably need that much to get the correct amount of HQ into your skin (like the precise amounts needed for Nu Derm products). Very Happy

I am going to trial the Vivier next!

Thanks rileygirl and amonavis.
So if I add C-Clarifying Serum or any other topical c to my nu-derm routine, what would be the protocol of using it? Do I use it once a day or twice? Before clear or after? Could you pls help?
Thanks again.

bee, use the C once a day before the Clear, right after cleansing/toning. Don't use the C-RX serum with the Nu Derm, as that has HQ in it. But, if you wanted to use the C-RX serum, you could drop your Clear and just use the C-RX (so you would get your C and HQ together).
