My hair is getting very greasy, very quickly after washing it. I'm currently using Volumactive by Kerastase but it happens with most shampoos. I've tried the greasy hair Kerastase shampoo and it's just ok, not fantastic for me either. Part of the problem is that my hair has become a lot thinner at the front and because it's thin, the oil is spreading through it quicker.
Has anyone had any success with keeping greasy hair at bay? I usually wash every other day but it looks like I'm going to have to wash it everyday now.
Any helpful suggestions would be really, really appreciated. |

I have very fine, oily hair. I wash every day, alternating days between Neutrogena clarifying shampoo and Head and Shoulders for fine hair. I find the Head and Shoulders gives my hair a lot of volume, and the Neutrogena takes care of the greasies.
Once a week or so I like to soak in a hot bath with a mix of heavy duty conditioner and jojoba oil. It makes my hair super shiny and normalizes the amount of oil in my scalp. |

Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately I can't get on with H&S shampoo.
Any sort of heavy duty conditioner or jojoba oil, even if it's just on the ends, would work its way up my hair when it's dry and make my hair look greasy within about an hour. The situation is that bad.
Powdery products in my hair help somewhat as they stop the oil from spreading and make it look thicker. I can't believe that Bumble and Bumble withdrew the original hair powder and reformulated it with that awful spray.
I fantasise about having real hair extensions but I fear it making the situation worse and the expense of upkeep.
I'll try and get the Neutrogena.
Thanks! |

Aveda Rosemary Mint Shampoo is a very good clarifying shampoo for oily hair. It leaves oily hair squeaky clean. The ingredients are very pure, and the smell is so nice. |

I use baby shampoo such as Johnson & Johnson and follow with conditioner only ending hair. |

Rusk has a great one, its green and its called Clarify. It worked better for me than anything but I had to stop using it because I color my hair with Redken Shades, its semi-permanent and the Rusk shampoo was stripping the color right out of it. If you don't color it is the best, if you do have color on your hair you can try Biolage Scalp Therapie, its made with Kola nut and mint. There's a shampoo, conditioner and scalp treatment spray. |

Thank you very much for your replies. I'll try those products, I'm about to have my hair colored to try and add some texture so I'll have to be careful not to fade it.
I bought Kerastate Densitive today to see if that will make a difference too. I've submitted a different post about it.
Thanks again ladies! |
