Has anyone heard of the brand "Diomedics" before? I'm trying to see where this system ranks up against the ProLight, Quasar and DPL systems.
http://diomedics.com/
Here are their "infrared therapy devices:" http://diomedics.com/products.php?cat=5
So their MODEL 3800 is $655 and has 38 diodes I believe. Dimensions: 7-3/4" x 2-3/4" - Teatment Area: 2.78 Sq. In. - mW power output: 774.6 mW - 1 joule = 2.8 seconds
You get a choice of wavelengths to combine in the unit: red, yellow, infrared, blue, green.
Thoughts? |

I have scoured these boards and the internet in general, searching for information that would allow me to compare the various models. I finally ordered the Baby Quasar MD, but I already plan to send it back and get the Prolight Red instead.
I am afraid I don't know much about Diomedics, but in the interest of improving comparisons, I'm listing what I have been able to find. Rita from Prolight verified the Prolight specs I'm listing:
1.Head Diameter
Quasar MD: 2 inches
Prolight red: 2 inches
2.Power output:
Quasar MD: 7.6 joules/cm2 per minute
Prolight red: 11.52 - 13.8 joules/cm2 per minute
3.Wavelengths:
Quasar MD: 632nm mode, 660nm mode, 880nm and 950nm (joint mode?)
Prolight red: 630nm-900nm all on at full power, constant stream of light
4.Bulbs:
Quasar MD: 24 diodes, 5mm each
Prolight red: 36 diodes, 5mm each
5.Price
Quasar MD: $636 with coupon
Prolight red: $364.15 with coupon
The only thing that really concerns me about Prolight is not knowing exactly what wavelengths are being used (only a range is given). Research has shown effectiveness with certain wavelengths but not others. I dislike being kept in the dark, so to speak |

You should definitely look into the Anti Aging Light Stim thread, as allot of members seem to have had good results with this particular led based device. You can also find it at a reasonably affordable price on ebay.
The lack of information on the internet for different led based devices was one of the factors that lead to me purchasing it. It's very powerful, compact and contains three different types of light, which should help you achieve better results faster. |
