I have been doing weekly glycolic peels at 30% and have now bought some Retin A but I keep reading conflicting information about using the two products together?
Can anyone inform me better please? I was planning on using the Retin A once every three nights and see how my skin deals with it.

Thank you

If you're going to use retin A, you might cut down your glycolic peels to once a month. And stop the retin A for a few days before and after the peel. You can email the company that sold you the glycolic peel to ask for their recommendations on this.

btw it's not so good long-term to use glycolic peels so frequently. It thins your skin.

I would not recommend using these products together. Although some people with tolerant skin can handle this combo, sensitive or dark skin types may get post inflammatory hyperpigmentation especially if you dont stop Retin A before and after the peel. In general I am not a huge fan of at home peels- i think it's better to go to a dermatologist. I have had a bad experience with some peels I purchased from Makeupalley. If you go ahead with the peel, you should not use harsh products on your skin after the peel. And make sure you use sunscreen. The most I would do is a monthly peel. Long term, Retin A should improve your skin more than glycolic peels.

By the way I don't want to discourage you, since I know some people swear by these peels, but my skin never looked worse than when I was doing monthly peels- combo of Lactic and Glycolic 30%, and using Retin A at the same time. I found it was a drying combo which accentuated my (minimal) wrinkles. Now I am back to Retin A and my skin looks good again.

i'm seeing a derm for my active acne and she never prescribes them concurrently, i guess it's because it'll be too drying for the skin. How about alternating the two ?

I would cut back on the peels. Its probably a good idea to do only 1x a month.

Agreed. You won't be needing the peels much since retin A also has exfoliating effect.

I have no problem with weely glyco peels and Tazorac cream every other day. Although I do get a little flaky, it keeps my acne in check

Definitely not use them together.
Maybe you could see the prompt result or no harsh effects at this moment, but you deep skin could be damaged permanently, which may not be obvious at once.

I think Retin A and glycolic acid are depended on your age. If you are younger than 30, these ingredients wouldn't have very obvious effect on your skin.
